The Telegraph wrote:Separatists in Ukraine declare creation of new 'state' Malorossiya

Russian-backed rebels fighting against Kiev announced on Tuesday the creation of a new "state" that they said would take the place of Ukraine and have its capital in their territory.

The proposed country - which has no chance of getting off the ground - would be founded after a referendum and called Malorossiya, a tsarist-era name meaning "Little Russia" that once described most of the area covering modern-day Ukraine.

A constitution presented by rebel leader Alexander Zakharchenko said representatives from the insurgents' self-declared Donetsk and Lugansk "People's Republics" and other regions had agreed to "declare the establishment of a new state, which is the successor of Ukraine."

I know! I know!

Belorussia == good Russia

Malorussia == bad Russia

Bonus etymology:

Bessarabia == better than Arabia.

I remember somebody had the silly theory that two countries that both had McDonalds would never go to war.

*checks too be sure*

Yeah, that person was Thomas Friedman.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lexus ... Olive_Tree

The book puts forward a capitalist peace theory called the Golden Arches Theory of Conflict Prevention:

No two countries that both had McDonald's had fought a war against each other since each got its McDonald's.[verify]

He supported that observation, as a theory, by stating that when a country has reached an economic development where it has a middle class strong enough to support a McDonald's network, it would become a "McDonald's country", and will not be interested in fighting wars anymore.

Even when written it was wrong. Panama got its first mcdonalds in 1971. We (with mcdonald's aplenty) invaded them in 1989.

Is what's happening in Venezuela now similar enough to Panama in 1989 to justify our interference (invasion)?

That operation lasted less than 2 months and cost 26 American lives.

How do Panamanians feel about it in retrospect? Do they consider their lives worse for it or better? Are they grateful or resentful toward the United States?

Venezuela doesn't have a canal.

I don't get why Venezuela is getting the ink they are. I don't give a fuck what they do. They're not a threat to us.

I don't know how Panamanians feel about but but they're doing pretty well.

Not yet, but with a little help from Iran, they will.

That will be a cool-ass trick if they can pull it off.
