That Day of all Days, again ..

Postby ed » Tue Oct 10, 2017 12:23 pm

is approaching apace.

Abdul, not surprisingly, screwed up all the preparations last year so that the crowds arriving at Myakka International Airport were left standing around for days. The problem with transport was amplified because the monthly transport to Duluth was grounded in Lagos. As the frogs say "quelle Dommage". Or something like that. Hard to tell with the frenchies.

I, though, had a wonderful day and look forward to a repeat this year.

Please make hotel reservations early, the Lake Ed Peoples Hotel and Spa fills up fast with well wishers and hangers on.

I think that it's nice that we can enjoy the season and get our minds off trivial things so that we can all focus on the coming joyous day. There will be hurricanes and fires and Trumps enough in the future, now lets just bask in what I call "Edness" and let the little crap go.

Friend I've been to south Florida. It's got 'skeeters bearing ed knows what damn diseases.

I ran over a monkey, on the interstate, yes a fucking monkey! I stayed away from the canals even though the residents assured me the manatees would keep the 'gators away.

Didn't seem to discourage the homeless guy missing an arm though.

All in all the beaches are the best though (other than the sand fleas).

Oh and the Disney resort we went to our friends wedding was...looking for a word...was..grandiose.

Seriously though, some of the best times of my life have been had in Florida

And a bit of the worst some bastards in collusion with my companions gave me a big ole' double bed all to my self...in a Florida Room.
Amazing I thought... these other guys are sleeping on the floor.

A week later I had to shave my pubes and use insecticide.

Oh to be young again. :)

And just imagine, I experience all that and more daily.

eta: ahhhh ... monkeys! One of Florida's little secrets that only the locals know about. Macaca Mulatta. Little wonder we all go about heavily armed. And why shootin' irons ALWAYS make good gifts!! (hint, hint)

... Macaca Mulatta ...

I think you may have misspelled "Myakka" in there, but I can't figure out which of those two words is the misspelling. :P

I'm assuming that's supposed to be the local common name of Simia myakkensis? :coolspecs:
