The Moscow Times wrote:Head of Orthodox Church Compares Homosexual Marriage to Nazism

Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Orthodox compared the adoption of homosexual marriage laws to the adoption of laws in fascist Germany. The Patriarch made the comments in Kyrgyzstan while promoting new translation of his book, according to RIA Novosti.

The Patriarch said “so-called homosexual marriages” were a threat to families and added that “when laws are detached from morality they cease being laws people can accept.” This he said was similar to the laws in Nazi Germany.

"Whoreman", like a pimp maybe? Maybe not any more odd than how hip hop made pimps cool. Remember Hustle and Flow?

The Russian state Duma has allowed to classify the assets of senior officials, Patriarch and their relatives

The state Duma in the third final reading approved a bill allowing to classify data about the assets of senior officials. The initiative was approved on June 21, reported on the website of the Parliament.

Introduced in February by President Vladimir Putin bill No. 99654-7 about expanding the powers of the Federal security service (FSS) for the second reading was supplemented by the amendment of the head of the Duma Committee on security and combating corruption Vasily Piskareva (“United Russia”).

“The processing of personal data of state protection and members of their families with their consent and (or) with the consent of the organs of state security, with the exception of personal data subject to publication or mandatory disclosure under Federal law,” reads the amendment.

Under “state protection” in this case refers to the President, Prime Minister, Prosecutor General, chairmen of the Investigative Committee, the speakers of the Duma and the Federation Council, as well as heads of Supreme and constitutional courts. Moreover, in the list under the state protection of the persons included including Patriarch Kirill, and a full list of the protected secret.

The addition of “their families” allow you to delete information on any relatives of the head of the Russian branch of Transparency International, Ilya Shumanov said “Moscow Komsomolets”, that speech can go even about the cousins, the nephews, as the concept of “family member” does not specified in the bill.

Bad translation apparently.

So Kirill is safe, phew!

The whole "public image" concept is confusing to me. Beyond these opinion surveys what does it really mean for USA and its citizens?

Sorry, guys, I don't understand what you're asking. For me "public image" was (and still is) this:

Image
(Longman dict.)

I looked up multiple dictionaries, even the urban one, and they all agree – but perhaps there is a meaning/usage I'm not aware of?

So – if we can believe the Pew poll, of course (methodology described p. 6) – my down to earth interpretation is just:
– the Russians mostly like the Donald (or, more precisely, the image they have of him);
– and they like him a helluva lot more than the Barack.

Now what that "really means for the USA and its citizens" is a political/prospective question I can't even start to answer. You're in a much better position for that, and I'm all ears.

It just feels like a purely academic exercise.
