Julian Assange Could Be Turned Over To U.K. Authorities Soon
Huffington Post
Julian Assange, the controversial founder of WikiLeaks, may soon be forced out of Ecuador’s embassy in London and turned over to British authorities, according to a new report.

Ecuadorean President Lenin Moreno is set to finalize an agreement with the U.K. government to lift Assange’s asylum status, The Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald reported, citing a source within the Ecuador’s foreign ministry.

...
President Trump should offer him asylum in the USA.

Has he raided the embassy's fridge one time too much?

I'm curious to see what will happen to him…

More vapors anticipation: 'Profound' Threat to Press Freedom Looms as Ecuador Prepares to Hand Assange Over to UK
Amid new reports that Ecuador is preparing to withdraw asylum protections from WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and hand him over to British authorities within the next few weeks, journalists are raising alarm at the serious threats to press freedom such a move could spawn, given that the U.K. may decide to extradite Assange to the United States—where he could face "prosecution for the act of publishing documents."

"The Obama administration was eager to prosecute Assange and WikiLeaks for publishing hundreds of thousands of classified documents, but ultimately concluded that there was no way to do so without either also prosecuting newspapers such as the New York Times and the Guardian which published the same documents," notes The Intercept's Glenn Greenwald, who reported on Saturday that Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno is "close to finalizing" a deal to eject Assange from Ecuador's London embassy, where he has been living since 2012.

However, top Trump administration officials are not at all concerned about the dangerous precedents prosecuting Assange could set, Greenwald notes, citing a "deranged" speech by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in which he declared "we can no longer allow Assange and his colleagues the latitude to use free speech values against us."
Because it was different when Barry (no balls) Obama wanted to get him...right?
...
Writing for Consortium News, Italian journalist Stefania Maurizi—who has worked on documents released by WikiLeaks for years, noted: "Like its work or not, WikiLeaks is an independent media organization that doesn’t have to rely on traditional media to publish its scoops. Indeed it was founded to bypass the legal qualms traditional media may have about publishing classified information."

"Thanks to WikiLeaks, it has been possible to reveal the true face of the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq (Afghan War Logs, Iraq War Logs Files, and Collateral Murder), the identities of Guantanamo detainees (Gitmo Files), the scandals and embarrassing diplomatic deals contained in 251,287 U.S. diplomacy cables, such as pressure from the U.S. to neutralize Italian prosecutors investigating the extraordinary rendition of the Milan cleric, Abu Omar (Cablegate)," Maurizi observes.
Seriously, Trump should probably give him a pass....considering how much help he got from Wikileaks (inadvertently of course) during the run up to the 2016 election...

Wikileaks' Julian Assange will be removed from the Ecuadorean Embassy 'imminently'
LONDON — Julian Assange will be kicked out of the Ecuadorean Embassy in London — where he has lived in diplomatic isolation since 2012 — "imminently," a source has told The Times of London. CNN reports that Downing Street is in "ongoing" discussions with Ecuador and the United States over his fate. Both Ecuador and Britain want to ensure Assange remains unharmed. But their suspicion is that US prosecutors have a sealed indictment against him and will extradite him to America, where he faces prison if convicted of charges related to the publication of US documents that were subject to national security secrecy protections.

UP-date: Assange considers offer to appear before U.S. Senate committee
LONDON (Reuters) - WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has been holed up in Ecuador's London embassy for six years, is considering an offer to appear before a U.S. Senate committee to discuss alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election, his lawyer said on Thursday.

WikiLeaks published a letter from the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday which asked Assange to make himself available to testify in person at a closed hearing as part of its investigation into whether Moscow meddled to help Donald Trump win the 2016 presidential election.

Russia rejects the claims and Trump has denied any collusion.

"The U.S. Senate Select Committee request confirms their interest in hearing from Mr Assange," lawyer Jennifer Robinson said in a statement.

"The inquiry has asked for him to appear in person at a mutually agreeable time and place. We are seriously considering the offer but must ensure Mr Assange's protection is guaranteed."
"Closed hearing" WTF?
After all that "sound and fury signifying nothing," a closed hearing?

And guarantee of protection?
Luck on that one Julian...

Trump will pardon him because "He's a good person, very strong, one of our best, etc."

Pamela Anderson says she might pull a Kim Kardashian and ask President Trump to pardon WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. . . . even though he hasn't been charged with a crime here, yet.
Well, gosh, if Pamela Anderson says so, that's good enough for me. :P

President Trump has cleared the path for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to enter the United States without fear of arrest or deportation.

. . . On Tuesday, Wikileaks posted a tweet announcing that the U.S. government had finally ended its eight-year-long grand jury proceedings against WikiLeaks – proceedings which were initiated by the Obama administration.

[lots of legal details snipped so we can get to the weird stuff]

. . . Will President Trump pardon Assange?

A QAnon post on the Internet bulletin board 8chan on Christmas Day and a series of messages posted on Twitter by Julian Assange on New Year’s Day appear to deliver a coordinated message that an extradition for Assange from his sanctuary in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London is imminent.

While interpreting posts intended to be cryptic is not a science, those following QAnon understand QAnon has forecast several important developments in code, in an effort to mobilize Internet-aware Trump loyalists.

Ultimately, the question QAnon is raising is this: Will President Trump pardon Julian Assange?

. . . On Jan. 1, 2018, Infowars.com posted on Scribd.com a decoding of this cryptic QAnon Christmas Day post.
  • Using gematria, the numbers 10, [10-9] are translated into the letters JA, the initials of Julian Assange with “J” being the 10th letter of the alphabet and “A” being the first. The operational window for Assange’s extraction from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London is signaled to be later this week, Jan. 5-6, 2018.
  • That Assange will be extracted with the blessings of the Trump administration is suggested by the designation FDeltaC, referencing a Federal Detention Center of undetermined location. That the location is outside the United States is suggested by the “Delta” designation.
  • Dec. 25-26 references Emanuel Leutze’s famous painting depicting George Washington’s historic crossing the Delaware River on Christmas night in 1776, with painting posted in synch on the Internet bulletin board 8chan by both QAnon and by the U.S. Department of Defense on Dec. 25, 2017.
  • With the possibility Assange might return to the United States, the “storm” QAnon has been predicting appears ready to begin.
  • QAnon’s reference to “Secured” suggests the path for Assange to return to the United States has been secured at the highest level of the U.S. government, with the knowledge and approval of President Trump.
  • QAnon’s reference to “Floor is yours” suggests this is Assange’s opportunity to drop key files on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the hoax of “Russia collusion” developed by CIA Director John Brennan and propagated to the mainstream media with the assistance of Google’s Eric Schmidt.
  • The comment “Twitter FW” suggests Twitter will be used by Assange to communicate with the public as the extraction mission goes forward. The additional comment “Twitter [kill_rogue] suggests Assange will post key information on the Twitter account @kill_rogue.
  • Finally, the notation “CONF_WHITE_WHITE” suggests Assange’s initial destination of Switzerland has been confirmed. Switzerland’s national flag is a white cross (WHITE_WHITE) against a red background.
On New Year’s Eve, Julian Assange posted on Twitter a cryptic string of numbers that appear to be a “Dead Man’s Switch,” linking possibly to a new cache of WikiLeaks documents Assange’s associates would post should Assange be arrested.

Assange’s New Year’s Eve post also embedded a video of the song “Paper Planes” by singer M.I.A. that linked to YouTube.

Again, in what appears to have been a synchronized post, @kill_rogue retweeted Assange’s New Year’s Day post and asked, “What words do you hear in the song?”

The second line of the lyrics in the song reads, “If you catch me at the border I got visas in my name …”
QAnon and Infowars? :laugher: Oh the intrigue!!!1!11!

What does sparks know that he's not telling us??

Nothing in the US Constitution says a Supreme Court Justice can't be foreign born.

In fact, several US Supreme Court justices were naturalized citizens including even a few Gentiles.

So all Trump has to do is facilitate the nationalization process for Assange (as he did for his in laws), and when Ginsburg kicks it present him as a compromise candidate after proposing and withdrawing some religious right neanderthal.

Yes indeed, what I said was factually incorrect. I assumed (from the context) that went without saying. I assumed everyone here already knows that's not one of your favorite sources.

I was attempting to identify the source as generally "not credible" while at the same time do it in a tongue-in-cheek manner, you know, for those who seem to think I'm always too literal.

UPDATE:
Newly published files confirm plan to move Assange to Russia
Julian Assange: Hacker. Journalist. Diplomat?

Newly released Ecuadorean government documents have laid bare an unorthodox attempt to extricate the WikiLeaks founder from his embassy hideaway in London by naming him as a political counselor to the country's embassy in Moscow.

But the 47-year-old Australian's new career in international affairs was nipped in the bud when British authorities vetoed his diplomatic status, effectively blocking him from taking up his new post in Russia.

The files were made public late Tuesday by Ecuadorean opposition lawmaker Paola Vintimilla, who opposes her government's decision to grant Assange nationality. They largely corroborate a recent Guardian newspaper report that Ecuador attempted the elaborate maneuver just before Christmas last year.

Russian diplomats called the story "fake news," but the files show Assange was briefly named "political counselor" to the Ecuadorean Embassy in Moscow with a monthly salary pegged at $2,000. Ecuador even went so far as to apply for a diplomatic ID card, the documents show, but the plan appears to have fallen apart with the British veto.
