I'm far from convinced this is true, but it is notable that it is being alleged.

This weekend CBS News’ Jan Crawford reported that Chief Justice John Roberts switched his vote in regard to upholding the bulk of the Affordable Care Act. Crawford reports that Roberts voted with the rest of the court’s conservatives to strike down the individual mandate, but in the course of drafting his opinion changed his mind, and ended up siding with the court’s four liberals to uphold almost all of the law.

I'm not sure why everyone has their panties in a bunch about this.

The individual mandate was basically toast on arrival and everyone kinda knew it.

The tax authority argument works.

It isn't inconsistent for Roberts to have written material in both opinions.

Don't see the problem here.

Anyway, Roberts' opinion sort of reads like he cut and pasted the commerce clause section in there... so a last minute switch is plausible.

I can't find it again, but apparently there is a crazy conspiracy theory going around on the Right that Obama literally coerced Roberts into siding with him...as in threatened his family if he didn't.

He used the same assassin as the Clintons.

Yeah, that guy will work for anyone.

I think if that were the case, his family would be dead by now after all that "tax" talk. He didn't write it like a guy trying to please someone.
