I had her a couple of years back but dumped her 'cause she wasn't dying fast enough.

Shit. Never really enjoyed the TV show, but I understand she was a good and reasonable human. And something of a looker, until Rob put her through the wringer.

Way to go Rob. :x

Tyler Skaggs, pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels died back on July 1st at the age of 27, but they finally made public his autopsy results.

Another victim of the opioid epidemic.
A Texas coroner said in a report made public Friday that Skaggs died after choking on his vomit with a toxic mix of alcohol and the powerful painkillers fentanyl and oxycodone in his system.

Skaggs was found dead in his hotel room in the Dallas area July 1 before the start of what was supposed to be a four-game series against the Texas Rangers.

Do you think we should prohibit alcohol and tobacco outright?

I said legalize. Heroin and meth and oxy. I tried a small dose of Ritalin once, I really liked it, damn dr wouldn't prescribe it because of the history of heart disease in may family. It should be my choice though, it's my body, right?

Like that. You don't agree?

Funny about that, isn't it?

My point is that drugs are dangerous, you want to legalize then I ask "What?". Antibiotics? If not, why not?

Thing also is that I suspect that the impact will be differential, that is to say the less economically independent will he hit hardest with addiction and associated crime. That means black folks. And knowing that makes legalization inherently racist and genocidal.

And the oh so precious idea that you will somehow ameliorate drug associated crime with legalization is analogous to the notion that communism is really swell, it just hasn't be done right yet. Wishful thinking acting as handmaiden to well meaning intentions. <---n.b. nice turn of phrase there.

Point is that Oxy, for example, has for all intents and purposed been legalized. And how is that working out? And there is a whole pharmacopoeia in the ghetto, or inner city as we white liberals call it, with results that are just swell. "But but legalize" one might bleat. You think that the control of distribution will cease to be an issue then?

:doglaugh:

No, bigger supply, greater contention, more dead bodies.

My only point is that the solution isn't simple and if it can fit on a bumper sticker it is probably very wrong.

Could I rant a bit more?
Image

Now, I suspect that one might bleat "Holland!!! Denmark!!!" or some such reference.

I cannot, nor will I, presume to lecture anyone on the nature of multivariate analysis. I made a lot of money doing just that and I am here to tell you that it is very difficult to understand the purchase of a Big Mac let alone the varieties of human behavior when it comes to addictive substances. But I will hazard one observation ... diversity sucks. If you want to be safe and secure, live in a homogeneous society. Live in a gated community. But for the mass of people, the more different people that there are, the worse it is. You want safety? Then give up freedom. Give up privacy. No way around it that I can see and I have history to back me up.

Back to drugs. I would love to hear a policy regarding the availability of drugs that purports to be workable.

My thought? Treat pot like booze. Put teeth into the laws. Give pot to a kid, 20 years.

Deal hard drugs? Execute. Fast. Like within 6 months. Import? Execute. Mexican drug lord? Exfiltrate and execute. We know where the fields are. Tell the president of the relevant shithole "burn it down, you have a week". If he doesn't? Nuke it. Fuck 'em. Then exfiltrate that fucker and execute him.

Users? Six months detox, training and a new identity in a new community. Why do you think people go back to the slammer? Because it's fun? That is a really cheap alternative.

I'm done here, my work is finished.

A more detailed view

Fentanyl is the number one killer. Heroin and prescription pain killers tie for second.

Fentanyl may end up curing the nations heroin problem, through attrition.

Maybe thats ok.

point is that controlled access is probably the key rather than some stupid blanket legalization. But damme if I can figure it out.

Thought offing the dealers has a certain attraction.
