By my guesstimate, 1000', more or less (based on the fact that valley below is about 282 feet below sea level, and the nearest elevation sign I saw where I was said I was 700 feet above sea level and I know I went up from there.

There were places there that were so desolate that even sagebrush wouldn't grow. Like looking at the surface of Mars.

I think it's pretty clear that someone else took the picture of her taking the selfie. So technically that photo is not a selfie.

(btw, the name of the photographer is clearly not the woman's name, as it is not a Japanese name. Looks like something scandanavian.)
