Thanks.

I'm skeptical of its provenance, but it's from the era therefore significant.

When football was still football, perhaps the most brutal NFL game ever. 1984 Bears-Raiders. Jim McMahon's season ended with a lacerated kidney. The Raiders lost their first 2 QBs, Ray Guy was the 3rd-string QB he refused to go out there so they put Wilson back in with a broken thumb.

So was it censored for military reasons (such as it gave away their position), or for public relations reasons because they are presumably drinking beer?

I'm guessing the second from right guys kit which may be mistaken for his junk. Considering the utter horror of WW1 seems kinda priggish lo these hundred years later.

I may be wrong, but my guess is that these are American and German soldiers, celebrating the Armistice together. Censors might not want Americans seeing them being chummy.

The – apparent – booze is given as reason for the censorship, on the Web.

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

The wall to keep out Injuns on Wall Street.

But that canal isn't Canal Street, the canal for Canal street is north of the wall and not built yet. :coolspecs:

Damned foolz.
You can lead them to knowledge, but you can't make them think.
