Yeah, Trump is clever that way. He brings record minority unemployment just to lure them in closer.

Good and interesting, but until the colourization process is improved, it would be better, in my opinion, to leave it in monochrome.

I agree in a general way, but I liked this one just as a change of pace.

It's still better color than early color movies from Hollywood.

About colorization of Hollywood movies -- it depends.

It works just fine for stuff like early Ronald Reagan cowboy pictures, but leave film noir alone please.

I agree with both of you. The colorizing bot isn't good, and it's about the best (bot) we have for now. An interesting development would be to credibly re-synthesize lost texture (blown-out highlights, closed shadows).

Even with colorization of photographs by hand, the results strike me as somehow standardized – always the same palette. The clues should be taken from similar contemporary paintings but that implies lots of research and hard work.

What I've seen of commercial movies is… mediocre. It ads nothing of value and can completely kill the atmosphere. Pre-color movie makers relied on sophisticated lighting while the obsession du jour seems to be color grading. Another lost art.

And B&W has an intrinsic abstract quality which also gets lost when color is added. You just don't take the same picture when you think B&W or you go for the colors.
