Wikipedia wrote:Zitkála-Šá (1876–1938) (Lakota: Red Bird = Cardinal (bird)), also known as Gertrude Simmons Bonnin, her missionary-given and later married name, was a Yankton Dakota Sioux writer, editor, translator, musician, educator, and political activist. She wrote several works chronicling her struggles with cultural identity and the pull between the majority culture she was educated within and her Dakota Sioux culture into which she was born and raised. Her later books were among the first works to bring traditional Native American stories to a widespread white English-speaking readership, and she has been noted as one of the most influential Native American activists of the 20th century.

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Samuel Langley built two successful steam-powered models of a flying machine he called an aerodrome. Aerodrome No. 5 flew 0.63 miles in May of 1896 and Aerodrome No. 6 flew three-quarters of a mile in November later that year.

Opinion of course, but bull shit.
... The stars were suns, but so far away they were just little points of light ... The scale of the universe suddenly opened up to me. It was a kind of religious experience. There was a magnificence to it, a grandeur, a scale which has never left me. Never ever left me.

Those were the same trains I took to High School in the 60's. Outside, elevated tracks, never NEVER broke down, never late. AMERICAN and not a metric bolt in them. We knew how to build'em. Not like today where lily livered fa (cont'd next page}

Yes, it did shake a bit. I recall calling the MTA back in the day trying to find out how old those cars really were. Got a runaround.Abdul Alhazred wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 12:27 pm
I seem to recall standing on a platform of the now demolished downtown Brooklyn portion of the Myrtle during its last days.
When a train came in the whole station would rock back and forth.
The structure was too light to carry the standard Division B subway car, so they tore it down rather than invest in a set of new cars just for the Myrtle. Because the old ones were falling apart.
Mutatis mutandis Division A for the last remnant of the 3rd Avenue el in the Bronx, though the cars used at the end were not as picturesque as the Myrtle. They looked very much like cars on the rest of the IRT of the time though they were lighter.
Here is a stretch .. you recall the Raymond St jail off Navy Street?
I passed it when I went down there with my father to scout out Tech before I took the enterance exam. They tore it down before I started.
As I recall, the Harry Thaw was jailed there when they nabbed him for the murder of white. AND Thaw lived/hid in a place on 40th a block from where I worked at Y&R.
