It's About Time, that's Imogene Coca and Joe E. Ross. Created by the late great Sherwood Schwartz, who also gave us Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch.

1951, circumstances unknown.
Perhaps related to the Orange Bowl and/or Orange Bowl Parade.

Remember the last episode of TOS Star Trek where Kirk's crazy ex-girlfriend assumes his identity? :oldman:

Never mind it could not be made today, it occurs to me they cannot ever rerun it.

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

The half blackface one couldn't be made today, but probably could still be shown.

It's a toss up. On one hand that. On the other hand no smoking or crashing.

Price controls meant competition by service.

Deregulation meant competition by price while cutting costs, because the point of air travel is to get there quickly.

If you think about what rich people (really rich) have on their private planes, the future actually is pretty amazing

Then consider Air Force one

It’s the cattle cars for common people that suck

I remember an article Popular Mechanics (maybe) where the future of commercial aviation was sub orbital rocket.
New York to San Francisco (or anywhere really) in 30 minutes.

Included an artist's conception of the passenger cabin looking something like a Boeing 707 but with full body harnesses.

No nonsense about in flight meals or smoking of course, but if you're in a hurry you can get by without a snack or a smoke for 30 minutes.
Didn't mention bathrooms at all.

I know my point will never be acknowledged, but certainly the wealthy (who the airlines were courting) travel in even better style than the fifties
