This is pretty cool, a current wind map for anywhere on the globe. I count 3 hurricanes! Well 2 of them are typhoons I suppose since they're in the Pacific.

That graph looks odd (speaking as someone who lived in both UK and US). treat with care.

The tax figures are not directly comparable because in the EU, most of the taxation is VAT.
Also, in the US case only federal taxes are included.

The only figures that might be reliable are the ones for average gross income.

Does Switzerland have any poor people?

That graph is fishy as hell, no way are those PPP dollars Switzerland has one of the highest costs of living on the planet.

What about other government receipts? Like from banking for example.

No China
OECD.

The source (https://howmuch.net/articles/money-peop ... fter-taxes) says this:
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) tracks both the average wage earnings and taxation figures for each of its 35-member countries. Gross earnings refer to the amount of money you get paid before anything gets taken out, like taxes, health insurance and retirement contributions. The remainder is referred to as net earnings. We used these numbers to create a pie chart. The overall size of each slice refers to the level of gross earnings, and the green portion represents net income after taxes. We illustrate the difference between these two figures with dark red referring to income tax rates, and pink referring to social security taxes. The result is a snapshot of how much workers actually take home across the OECD.
I tried to look into the OECD statistics but their tables are such a mess that I quickly gave up – and wonder how the Howmuch.net guys compiled their data.

Re. Switzerland I think they left out health insurance (private and expensive there, and not cheap and state-run as in France). The taxation level is another can of worms: urban centers like Zürich or Geneva have (relatively) high taxes, while other cantons (e. g. Schwyz) are tax heavens and rich people tend to have their official residence there. But if you have to work and can't afford multiple mansion houses you'll go elsewhere – and get fleeced.

I also wonder why the graph is snail-like and not a simple bar graph (clarity over aesthetics).

The main market for real cameras is now just professionals who need fancy expensive ones + a few artists.
