Seems a bit premature to compare Covid-19 to the others yet. Current number of deaths over 7000 and still rising. It'll probably surpass the 2009-10 swine flu before it's all done, and I don't remember there being nearly as much panic over that one as this time.
The Hong Kong Flu seems recent and large-scale enough to be panic-worthy yet I've only ever heard reference to it as just a particularly bad flu season. I am not sure I understand what made Covid-19 worthy of such a world-wide reaction.
