Little rain, no wind to speak of, overcast most of the day.

Nuttin.

We are about 14 miles due west of Sarasota so we are pretty well inland (though it is flat).

Thanks for asking.
Which puts you in the Gulf, no?

Florida Man woes: Gators prefer the taste of locals over tourists

According to a new report published in the Tampa Bay Times, it seems alligators prefer the flesh of Florida Man.

The study looking at Florida alligator bite reports back to 1971 concludes the prehistoric creatures largely bite adult men.

Men who are NOT tourists but local Florida men.

The report published in the Journal of Wildlife Management said men in the category often make the mistake of getting too close or wading in small, man-made bodies of water — which is where the gators like to hang out, particularly in the summer.

“Major injuries to victims occurred in 247 bite incidents,” the study reported. “The estimated annual number of bites resulting in major injury to the victim increased from 3.5 to 7.0 during 1971–2014.”

Twenty-two bites were fatal, the report added.

Hard to argue when you drove up with a truck load of guns towing a cannon.

Indeed.

Very rare for Connecticut, but "our kind of folks" for Florida.

He's even assimilated to the point of addressing people as "puddin'".

Of course not.

His company doesn't even have a mission statement. 8)

did i ever share this? The Mosley flag, an early state flag of florida
Image
Biography Note
This flag was unfurled at the inauguration of William D. Moseley as first Governor of the State of Florida on June 25, 1845. The Florida House of Representatives agreed to a joint resolution on inauguration day adopting the flag as "the Colors of the State of Florida, till changed by law." The Senate, however, objected to the motto "Let Us Alone," and it was not until December 27, during the adjourned session that year, that a Senate resolution "consented to and adopted" the flag and its motto "as the Flag of the State of Florida." Because one house acted through a joint resolution and the other through a simple resolution, it would seem that this flag was never officially adopted although it received the approval of both houses of the General Assembly (Legislature).

Also ... there are a number of sites that were used for bombing, just a few.

Also I have proposed a new State Motto:
Florida: not for pussys

Florida officials confirm case of potentially fatal mosquito-borne virus in Miami

Florida health officials on Tuesday announced a case of the potentially life-threatening mosquito-borne virus known as dengue fever.

The case was confirmed in the Miami-Dade County community, the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County said in a press release.

“There is a heightened concern of additional residents becoming ill,” the release added.

Won't somebody think of The Children™? :(
NRA Says New Florida Law Would Take Away Rifles From '10-Year-Old Little Girls' on Their Birthdays

As Florida lawmakers prepare to vote an a potential ban of assault weapons next year, the National Rifle Association's (NRA) top lobbyist for the state said the law would affect children who, all of a sudden, could not shoot rifles on their birthdays.

Marion Hammer, the chief NRA lobbyist, met with a group of economists in Florida on Friday to oppose the proposed ban of assault weapons, according to Shareblue Media. She asked if a little girl who wanted to shoot a rifle with a pink stock would be convicted of a felony.

"How do you tell a 10-year-old little girl who got a Ruger 10/22 with a pink stock for her birthday that her rifle is an assault weapon and she has to turn it over to government or be arrested for felony possession?" Hammer asked at the meeting.

Hammer is one of the most influential gun lobbyists in the country, and Florida has been her turf for about four decades, according to The New Yorker.
