A nice sentiment, but debatable. :)

The only tip off that it's a joke is the word "gobshite".

I've seen worse along those lines that weren't jokes. Not intentional ones anyway.

Young, inquisitive Bruce: Why do we scan all of our reports as pdfs before sending them to our clients?

Old boss (tired of Bruce's questions): Because it can't be altered. Keeps our clients from changing something and claiming we did it.

Young, inquisitive Bruce: But pdfs absolutely can be altered. In fact, Adobe itself makes a pdf to text converter. There are better digital technologies that has been around for years that are way more secure than pdf.

Old, world-weary Bruce training new recruits: Why scan pdfs? Because fuck our clients and modern technology. Just be grateful that you have a job and you're not making copies of these reports with a quill in the basement of a church. Maintaining the status quo in the corporate world is more important than common sense. If you want innovation, go join a start-up and see how long it can stand up to big pharma before it buys it out, swallows its assets and shits you out on the curb.
Such potential!

I dunno what stigmata sufferers are whining about. A little bit of blood from the hands is not much to write home about.

They should think themselves lucky that Jesus didn't live in a more modern environment, such as the French Revolution when their heads would just fall off, or modern day Texas where they would shake violently from side to side with their hair standing on end while their eyeballs boiled.

The story goes that he was out riding with two of his junior staff officers on day. They see a landscape, and one of the officers says, "Isn't that beautiful?!"

But [Field Marshal Alfred von – Ed.] Schlieffen looks and says, "A minor tactical obstacle!"

That is not "civilization". That is just being human.

Still not bad for a gal who projected her sexual fantasies onto the Samoans and fooled the world.

She was big into mental telepathy and stuff, too.
