In Queen's "Don't stop me now", Fredward Mercurial sings "100 degrees, that's why they call me Mr Fahrenheit!"

Now, call me a pendant but surely "The Merc" should have sung "100 degrees, that's why they call me Mr Centigrade." There's no syllablistic difference and 100 degrees Centigrade is a famous temperature referring to the boiling point under atmospheric elements and gravity things of water - whereas 100 degrees Fahrenheit is 37.777778 degrees C which is quite frankly, nonsense.

I cant think of a momentum/velocity related term that Centigrade might rhyme with though.

Anyone else know of songs where the singer displayed a lack of knowledge about science and its terminology?

I heard the other day, that if you spun spider webs into a strand that is as thick as a pencil, youd be able to stop a jumbo jet dead in its tracks due to the web's tensile strength.

Not only is this testament to nature's magnificence and it's incredible ability to adapt/evolve to its surroundings - it also tells us that, in order to crimp a string off, spiders have the most powerful assholes in the animal kingdom.

I read somewhere that science boffins at the North Atlantic Space Association had spent millions and millions of dollars researching and developing "non-stick" materials as part of the space program. Not only that, these materials had crossed over into the domestic arena to be used in the kitchen in such things as cooking utensils, non-stick pans or whatever.

Can anyone else see the obvious discrepancy here? Because, if you are frying sausages in space, due to the effects of zero gravity, you will need a "stick pan". Otherwise you'll have sausages bouncing all over the place, and airborne hot fat burning through wires and control panels and shit, running the real risk of causing massive instrumental failure and a cataclysmic rocket accident killing thousands. The idiots didn't think about that, did they?

Thats the problem with these academic science types. No common sense.
