Oh goody. Let's play some guilt by association with ed.

I wonder about the disappointment that child has grown into . . .
. . . and the wonder that would have been that has been lost.

No one knows where it came from, how it got out, or even for sure what it is (or if it is)—but an animal said to be on the loose in Texas is causing a ruckus. The New York Times perfectly explains the current confusion in the Lone Star state with this headline: "Monkey, or Maybe Chimp, or Maybe Nothing, Runs Amok." Per ABC News, however, Texas Parks and Wildlife has confirmed it is a chimpanzee that appears to be running around the Santa Fe area. Sightings of the mystery creature have been coming in since Monday, with some people claiming it has been running through the streets and harassing people and dogs; some say it's even tried to grab cats. Patricia De La Mora was the first person to file a police report Monday, after she said she heard noises outside her home in the middle of the night and spotted the large "monkey" when she looked out the window.

Chimps will rip your hands off while biting your face off.

I happened upon ...
Orangutan with human rights to begin new life in Florida
An orangutan which spent 20 years in an Argentine zoo is being moved to a US animal sanctuary after being granted the same legal rights as humans.
Lawyers won a landmark appeal for Sandra in 2014, arguing she was being detained in Buenos Aires illegally.
The ruling found her to be Argentina's first "nonhuman person, with the right to liberty".
The 33-year-old arrived in Kansas on Friday and will undergo tests before moving to her new home in Florida.

While I'm not sure an ape should have human rights, I think they are sentient enough to have some subset of rights carved out for them. Ape Rights.
So where is Sandra going? She's going to the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula, Florida, not too-too far from the shores of Lake Ed. They have a very nice profile!
In the midst of the tropical forest surroundings, the chimpanzees and orangutans each live and play in one of the twelve large three-story high domed enclosures. The largest of these outdoor living areas are from 50- to 80-feet long and 34-feet tall. The habitats provide plenty of running room, climbing space and height for swinging through their environment. All outdoor ape habitats have a variety of climbing structures and swinging vines as well as numerous toys, tubs, culverts, and enrichment devices.

Reading the rest of that page makes me a little jealous. If they provided a couch, Netflix, and an internet connection for my laptop, I might like to live there. But are they legit?

Well worth donating to.

Human rights? Does that include the right to vote?
