Havant teacher who had sex with four pupils jailed

A teacher who had sex with four of his pupils, including one who became pregnant, has been jailed for 12 years.

Sean Aldridge, 37, a former teacher at Warblington School in Havant, Hampshire, was found guilty of 24 counts of sexual activity with a child.

Jurors heard some of the offences took place while he was on paternity leave. He did say he was "helping the children."

Too soon?

The court heard he had previously been investigated by the school but was subsequently promoted to assistant head teacher and head of safeguarding. "Head of Safeguarding" the children. You just cannot make this up.

During the three-week trial, Portsmouth Crown Court heard that Aldridge, from Southsea, had sex with girls aged 13 to 16 between 2006 and 2012 on school premises and in his car.

["Snip!"--Ed.]

Passing sentence, Judge Roger Etherington said of Aldridge: "The abuse of trust was truly appalling. You were perceived as a good or outstanding teacher with a special rapport with pupils." Just . . . stop.

But, he said, Aldridge had groomed girls with "flirty texts and intimate photos".

["Snip!"--Ed.]

Emma Lile, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said Aldridge had "groomed and abused the trust of four young girls" who he deliberately targeted because they were vulnerable.

She said: "He took any opportunity to have sex with them on school premises or at his home. He thought he could lead a normal life being married and having children without probably being ever caught."

But he had a special rapport with pupils.

You know, maybe it cynical of me to say this, but perhaps it's the teachers who seem to be most popular with students who you need to watch out for especially. Just a thought. They're the ones with the charisma to groom them and seduce them after all.

An armed man who caused panic at a Walmart in Missouri says it was a 'social experiment'
(CNN)Dmitriy Andreychenko walked into a Walmart in Missouri equipped with body armor, a handgun and a rifle less than a week after a gunman killed 22 people in a Walmart in Texas. He says it was a "social experiment" -- and not intended to cause panic.

"I wanted to know if that Walmart honored the 2nd amendment," he told Springfield police, according to a probable cause statement.
Andreychenko, 20, recorded himself as he pushed a cart into the store in Springfield, saying he intended to buy grocery bags.
He didn't intend for any negative reaction, he said. The recording was in case anyone stopped him and asked him to leave, , according to the statement.
His wife and sister told him beforehand that the idea was not smart, especially considering the recent shootings in El Paso and Dayton, according to the document.
He told his sister it was "a social experiment on how his 2nd amendment right would be respected in a public area," according to the document.
The rifle he carried had a loaded magazine, but a round was not chambered; and the handgun was loaded with a round in the chamber, the probable cause document said.
Missouri is an open carry state, but for some reason, he's being charged anyway.
'He's lucky to be alive'
He faces a charge of making a terrorist threat in the second degree, the police department said on Twitter. CNN was unable to determine whether he was represented by an attorney.
The consequences he faces are not a reflection of how Missouri -- an open carry state -- respects the 2nd Amendment, prosecuting attorney Dan Patterson said in a statement.
"Missouri protects the right to open carry a firearm, but that right does not allow an individual to act in a reckless and criminal manner, endangering other citizens," Patterson said. "As Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes famously explained, 'the most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man ... falsely shouting fire in a theater causing a panic.'"
Police Lt. Mike Lucas said he did indeed cause a panic.
"His intent was not to cause peace or comfort to anybody that was in the business," Lucas said. "In fact, he's lucky to be alive still to be honest."
I wonder if the charges will stick?

Yeah, that's the ticket.

And if that doesn't fly, say it was a conceptual art project.

Open carry or no, threatening people is illegal even when there are no firearms involved.

This Fucking Asshole:

Dmitriy Andreychenko
Armed man who sowed panic at Walmart claimed he was testing his Second Amendment rights, police say
Hannah Knowles

His wife told him it was a bad idea. His sister reminded him of what had happened in El Paso less than a week earlier, when a gunman killed 22 people after opening fire at a shopping center and Walmart.

But Dmitriy Andreychenko went ahead with his plan for a “social experiment,” according to police. The 20-year-old used a cellphone Thursday to film himself entering a Walmart in Springfield, Mo., wearing body armor and carrying a loaded military-style rifle. He said he wanted to test whether his Second Amendment rights would be honored in a public area.

The subsequent scenes of panic were frighteningly familiar. In the week since two mass shootings in Texas and Ohio left 31 dead, moments including a backfiring motorcycle in Manhattan’s Times Square to a falling sign in a Utah mall have triggered pandemonium. On Tuesday, panicked customers ran from a Louisiana Walmart after men in an argument drew weapons, police said.

Andreychenko claimed he did not anticipate customers’ reactions, a Friday statement from a Springfield police officer says.

“This is Missouri,” he told investigators, according to law enforcement. “I understand if we were somewhere else like New York or California, people would freak out.” You cannot make this up.

Prosecutors on Friday charged Andreychenko, of Springfield, with making a terrorist threat, saying he recklessly disregarded the risk of causing a building evacuation by knowingly sowing fear in the wake of the El Paso mass shooting at the same retail chain.

Missouri is an open-carry state. In 2014, state law allowed anyone with a concealed-carry weapon permit to carry a weapon in the open, statewide, overriding local regulations. Starting in 2017, the state allowed individuals to carry concealed weapons without a permit in most locations and most people 19 or older to obtain a concealed carry permit, which can translate to carry rights in other states.

“Missouri protects the right of people to open carry a firearm, but that does not allow an individual to act in a reckless and criminal manner endangering other citizens,” Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson said in a statement, likening Andreychenko’s actions to raising a false fire alarm in a theater.

Andreychenko’s second-degree felony charge carries up to four years’ imprisonment and a fine of as much as $10,000. He is being held on $10,000 bond with the stipulation that he may not possess a firearm, according to the prosecutor.

The Washington Post could not immediately reach Andreychenko for comment. It is not clear whether he has a lawyer.

Andreychenko — who typically keeps a gun and vest in his car, according to his wife — arrived at Walmart just after 4 p.m. Thursday despite his family’s warnings that his plan would provoke fear after the El Paso massacre, court documents say. The man used his cellphone to record himself entering the Walmart’s front entrance and then headed toward the building’s southeast corner, according to police. On his right hip was another weapon besides his AR-style rifle: a semiautomatic handgun loaded with one round in its chamber. Police say he had more than 100 rounds of ammunition.

He said he was recording in case somebody stopped him. He just wanted to shop, he said — and test Walmart’s support for the right to bear arms.

Although he said he did not anticipate the fearful response, Andreychenko knew about the shootings in El Paso and Dayton, Ohio, and even said he brought the rifle and body armor to protect himself after the deadly attacks, police said.

Walmart employees quickly raised alarms.

Watching the armed man move down the aisles with a shopping cart, a store manager told an employee to pull the fire alarm to get people out of the store, believing that Andreychenko would open fire. Andreychenko said he, too, left the store at that point, police said.

["Snip!" – Ed.]

Walmart said in a statement that Andreychenko is no longer welcome in the chain’s stores and that it is working with authorities.

["Snip!" – Ed.]

Springfield attorney Scott Pierson told local news outlet KY3 that Andreychenko might not have been arrested for the incident if it happened before the shootings last weekend in El Paso and Dayton.

“His intent was not to cause peace or comfort to anybody that was in the business,” [Springfield Police Lieutenant – Ed.] Lucas said. “In fact, he’s lucky to be alive still, to be honest.”
