Having retired I can tell you all the pitfalls. But I shan't. Schadenfreude.

A license to kill never expires.

And i don't care what deli it comes from, I want some good NY chopped liver and tongue on rye with a good mustard! I had one 35 years ago in a NY deli (I don't remember the name or location, I was drunk at the time, but it was within a few blocks of Madison Square Garden) with some great potato salad and a huge half-sour pickle, and I've never had a sandwich as good since!

Congratulations Abdul. I just got back from vacation last night myself, or I would have commented sooner.

Abdul doesn't have a smart phone or tablet, so I hear. Privacy reasons, I think.

If you had an iPhone you could post even when away from home, and it doubles as a camera.

That is... no smartphone?!!

Forget NYC, Abdul should be at Medieval Times (as an exhibit, rather than a guest)

Abdul is a Secret Agent Man. You cannot expect a Secret Agent Man to make himself vulnerable like the rest of us.

On second thought, don't bring back anything. Not one thing.

Hey, welcome back, it doesn't feel right around here without you.

Now where's my chopped liver and tongue on rye?

A late word. I just put out resumes. I can not handle being retired anymore. Not even great tv helps. Having to do the cooking, the laundry, the yard, the (too fucking old to be bothering me kids), the vacuuming, the sex ...

...sex that is no longer the dominant sex [only] ed is used to [hourly]. No, it's the submissive sex Put Upon a man that washes the dishes of his wife and scrubs her panties....

So yesterday I hit every contact I had. I'm a year shy of 60 so no sane company would hire me. But I've got over ~hundred recent contacts at 30 different companies and out of 30, 10 may be insane.

I know I'll get some lowballs but I've set a minimum not far from what I was making prior, plus a little;

So, I guess, I've got ten more years in me.

You made me laugh, Rob: not for one second did I regret leaving the treadmill! (As I wrote elsewhere, from early on my target in life was already to work the least possible.)

As for cooking, I love it. (Nothing fancy, but always tasty.) It leaves your mind completely free to wander where it pleases while keeping the hands busy. Just have to get some of it back when I'm mincing garlic with an extremely sharp knife…

I’m not retired but my job is not very hard.

Sometimes my girlfriend who does have a harder job (but, in my opinion, not actually as hard as she complains) tries to make me feel guilty.

It never works.
