Is it mean?

Post by Nyarlathotep » Tue Aug 06, 2019 4:49 am

Is it mean that I started a new job and realized "my God, I have never had an uglier batch of coworkers"

I mean, I am not exactly a handsome man, but I have to check to make sure that my coworkers are not from a decrepit fishing town in Massachusetts because I think those fuckers all have the Innsmouth Look.

On the other hand, I guess I fit right in

It's only mean if you say it out loud. You can't really help but notice.

Maybe you are in a Lovecraft story.

Do your coworkers:
- have a glassy stare?
- dress with no regard to finishing buttoning or tucking in shirts?
- eat gruel?
- gather together on regular occasions and stare seaward?
- have gills?
- talk in sepulchral voices?
and most telling
-do they shamble rather than walk?

This checklist has come in handy for me many times.

Hey, just because we have a mountain range and an entire other state between us and the sea....

Or they live in Lake Tahoe or Pyramid Lake. No one knows how deed the former is and there are all sorts of creepy legends about the latter.

That's it.

A vast underground cavern connecting Lake Tahoe to the Pacific Ocean.

Just big enough for Cthulhu to fit through to visit his ancestral homeland. Which used to be under water and will be again.

Now you can look at your ugly co-workers (not too close) and be known as that nice fellow who smiles all the time. :)

There are some local Woos who believe exactly that, seriously

Lake Tahoe is nothing but a failed Atlantean Blue Hole. :)

Failed?

Better not let Cthulhu hear you say that.

Oops. Too late. ;)

If Cthulhu were to be anywhere in Nevada it would be Pyramid Lake. Tahoe is an idyllic, crystal clear mountain lake. Pyramid is murky and has several creepy legends surrounding it

I'm picturing (opening scene of movie) a teenage girl in a bikini waterskiing on Tahoe, ominous music, and guess who emerges from the depths.

Later in the movie there will be some sort of flashback of Cthulhu awakening in the South Pacific, making his way to off the coast of California, and going through the cavern.

However the big climax scene can be at Pyramid Lake.

A bit of background on Pyramid Lake

Including tunnels to Tahoe and fish people. From a woo site, but nothing there that isn’t already a local urban legend at least

No, you don't see the shark till the third reel

No. Thru a tunnel that BEGINS off the coast of mexico so he crosses the border illegally.

See? We get to make a political statement then. And the first guy he kills has orange hair. And is eating a taco.
