Automobile blinker bulbs

Post by Pyrrho » Sat Nov 23, 2019 2:51 pm

What is it with these things? Why all the different "types" for what are, to all appearances, the same bulb? My car requires 3157 and 3157A. Naturally the stores didn't have them. Can I put in a 3057 or a 4157 or one of the others with the same type of base? There are LED bulbs..."for off road use only"...okay...

Short answer, it should work just be prepared for the 3057 to be a bit dim compared with the 3157. :)
You can lead them to knowledge, but you can't make them think.

The A stands for Amber. It has the same base, wattage, brightness as a 3157. You can use a 3157 without the amber coating but people will point and laugh when you blink at them.

Heh, yes I'll accept the pointing and laughing for the wrong bulb as opposed to the pointing and laughing when I try to use hand signals on a dark and rainy night driving through East Cleveland.

Luckily, I was able to get 3157 and 3157A, finally, from the auto parts store that actually had them, from a store clerk who was quite obviously bored stiff.
