Company "Holiday Celebration"

To go or not to go, that is the question.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Generally a good idea. Free refreshments. Give the bosses some face time. Bosses love face time.
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

I wouldn't raise a glass with the boss even if the bastard did drink, and he bloody well doesn't! And neither does Pyrrho IIRC.

Night in the box Pyrrho!

Add to that the insult of the fact that if they do serve some free booze, it'll no doubt be lousy beer and cheap-ass wine.

Dang, some time ago I worked with Nepali owners, they loved Christmas, New Years, Easter, those Jewish holidays and any dang holiday as long as people bought stuff.

I do have a soft spot in me heart for Lord Ganesha though.

... The stars were suns, but so far away they were just little points of light ... The scale of the universe suddenly opened up to me. It was a kind of religious experience. There was a magnificence to it, a grandeur, a scale which has never left me. Never ever left me.

Company I used to work for would do dinner at one of the better restaurants in town. Either a steak house or Mexican (though they did Chili's one year for reasons unknown to me).

Company I work for now MIGHT do a potluck in the breakroom on Xmas eve, during work hours.

Oddly, I am good either way. Old way, I got a good meal out of it. New way, I can just safely ignore it.

I stopped going after having been stuck amidst a group of colleagues (somewhat bearable) who came with their husbands (our local equivalent of rednecks, I'd say).
A whole evening of greasy jokes and floor-level thought, never more. :x

That was worthy of an Oscar.

OK finally watched it.

An underappreciated gem. Much classier than his work with the Stooges. 8)

Much classier. If the bar is set low enough even our Shemp could be termed "classy".
