Or maybe, "I dont use these shoes anymore,I've got no use for then anymore, as there are no p(h)easants on Sunset Boulevard to stamp on. I'm getting rid of them."

Anyway, why is the dynamic unpleasant.

The latter implies a moral judgement.

I pretty much don't believe anything I read about Meghan and Harry.

But on the gun topic, I got rid of mine when my first son was about two. My wife didn't ask me to, I just did. Plus, she was becoming a real fucking b... bless her b... heart, and I figured that, coupled with other factors swung the risk analysis in wrong direction in keeping one.

Still, I took him to the range for the first time on his thirteenth birthday, as I did all my sons. We'd generally go about four times a year (except son2 who hated it). I'd borrow from friends or rent from the range as needed. They are all well regulated. Well, two of the three anyway.

BTW, same said first son is working on his own personal armory. At last count he had about five. Son three sold his after his second daughter was born. There was a Fender Strat he just had to have, so he sold it.

I was thinking it probably has something to do with the new baby and moving to a new house and all. Maybe it's just more convenient for him to borrow someone else's if he goes to the range or hunting. Maybe they - gasp - needed the money?

Prince Harry is friendless and unemployed in LA, misses 'having a structure': report (Fox)
It's been a little over a month since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the bold move to California and now a source close to the Duke of Sussex believes his American life is lacking structure.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially departed as senior members of the royal family at the end of March, marking a new life of unknowns as the couple vowed to earn their own keep and split their time between Harry's native Britain and Meghan's North American roots.

After reports surfaced about Harry's loneliness in Los Angeles, Calif., where he and Meghan are living large in an $18 million mansion reportedly owned by Tyler Perry, a source tells Vanity Fair he's homesick for a couple of reasons.

...
1) California is on lockdown.
2) He's still rich.

Well duh. Also, who cares? Why should I concern myself with the mundane details of these people's private lives?

The one this that does interest me about the coverage is that almost every story about them I see has a subtle or sometimes overt anti-Meghan subtext to it. Harry is sad because his wife made him move to California and give up his gun collection and drove a wedge between Harry and his family, and so on.

Whether he's actually sad or not, I don't really trust the motives of the press or the sources of the gossip they print. They've been consistently anti-Meghan from the beginning.

A triple threat.

You forgot {suitably plonking tome of voice} an American.

And they might play it different if she were a deferential and demure 22 year old Papuan princess.
C of E of course. The Queen would already be her Queen.
100% British from the get go. Even the bone through her nose would be British.

This pretty much sums it up:

https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-ente ... 87971.html

Here you have a perfect microcosm of left v right. She says press racism alone. He says no. She immediately claims white privilege for having the audacity to disagree with her. He goes all indignant about how tolerant he is of black people. We tolerate them. Charming.

Both are right *and* wrong. Both are racists.

There is a certain amount of racism in the Megster's press coverage in the UK press. Absolutely. Alot.
But there are other factors involved. Not all the negativity is about "The Darkness." As you correctly point out, she is....AMERICAN. EW! Cant have Amercan royalty. They have no class. You only find Crowns on Turkeys in the USA. Which Britain invented. Look what they did to the old place.

Daughter of single parent. What does that tell you?

Divorcee? So...half of California's been through it. Slut.

Actress. Fucking actress? She was shit in that as well.

Have a look. Go on. How "Diana" is she. Yes. See? Not worthy . Plastic uppity bitch.

Throw in all of the above and the obvious Mrs Simpson ohnonotagain, and "shes a what?" and you've got mana from heaven for journos.

She was on a hiding to nothing, and I'm not even slightly surprised they wanted to dump all the shit and get out of the country. Not surprised at all. Good luck to them.

Wait, he said “ Fox dismissed this view, shaking his head and saying: "It's not racism. We're the most tolerant lovely country in Europe.”. What else could he have said?

Something along the lines of "the correct position is that "*some* of the criticism is racially motivated." Some. Not all. Fox is saying none of it is, she is saying all of it is. Both are wrong.

Remember, bring "tolerant" of something/someone implies your default position is intolerance.

On Fox:

Wait, his brother-in-law is Richard Ayoade? Yes, and he asked Ayoade to publicly support him on Twitter after his Question Time appearance.

Image

And did he? Of course not. According to Fox, Ayoade angrily told him: “You have never encountered racism.” To which Fox replied that he had, because he worked in Kenya once and “racism can be deferential”.

When asked what deferential racism was, Fox didn't know
.

"Bold". Yes, sure.

"Bold" is walking into Lake Ed without regard for the creatures that lurk. That is "Bold". Moving to Cali, being rich and living in somebody else's palatial digs is not "Bold". It is nothing. It is like Whoopie Goldberg explaining that single motherhood is not a problem, "hell, I do it".

Bold. Next they'll be invoking the word "hero".

Good point.

As for "unemployed", his only real job was in the army, right?

Nothing since then other than wealthy layabout.
