Pretty well everything Tarrant ever did or wrote is a banned publication under NZ law.

I don't mind bad taste jokes, but that isn't either funny or clever. Sick little cunts from 8Chan that couldn't get laid in a brothel. My message to them would to please An Hero immediately.

Hard to see how this has any characteristics of a joke. Whether in poor taste or otherwise.

I've read the manifesto. Nothing original.
I've seen the video. Would not post it here or anywhere.

The official position of the government of NZ is that if their subjects were to see it, it would inspire widespread imitation.
Even though the perp wasn't even a New Zealander and was apparently motivated by revenge for Kosovo.

But implicitly my original question is answered. The image in the OP is not enough to get this place banned.

No, we have something that USA doesn't have - a law that bans items that would be considered "free speech" in USA. If something is offensive enough - and there is unanimous agreement among non-Nazi New Zealanders that anything to do with Tarrant is utterly objectionable - it is banned and against the law to publish, or even view it.

In your fantasy world, that's probably the case.

In the real world, where New Zealanders were universally fucked off that some Aussie racist cunt would come and kill several dozen of our citizens, we place respect for the victims quite a bit higher than allowing Tarrant and his pals to post shit that is both disrespectful and objectionable in its own right.

Correct - it's not objectionable, just a pathetic attempt at attention-seeking.

The image itself being shared would get action under copyright law, which is something Americans clearly do understand, given the lengths they're going to to extradite Kim Dotcom.

So it's just about feelings then? Not actual danger?

I understand your position, but it is evil and you are self righteous about it.
But then you seem to be self righteous and smug about everything.

You really are dense aren't you?
The point is that is the only way the ban makes sense, but of course my real point is it does not make sense.

I'll be careful about deploying sarcasm around you in the future.

Are you really that confident that your own ideas will never be considered offensive by those in power?
They have already disarmed all of you in reaction to this crime, so what will you do?

Two free speech for Nazis anecdotes from history, one USA (basically a sideshow) the other UK (deadly serious).

1) USA

George Lincoln Rockwell was the Fuehrer of the American Nazi Party during the 1960s. Hardly any takers but 100% legal. However a genius as a publicity hound. He was interviewed for Playboy magazine no less by Alex Haley no less. Millions of Americans read his rants about how he realized he was fighting on the wrong side as a Navy man in WWII, how Communism was basically Jewish and the "nigras" had to be put in their place.

Not only did this not result in a wave of Nazi recruitment, this was the time our the greatest advances in civil rights.

Rockwell also spoke a Stanford University where leftist students made a fool of him during the question and answer period afterward. And not by shouting him down.

2) UK

George Orwell's review of Mein Kampf (by Adolf Hitler).
https://bookmarks.reviews/george-orwell ... ein-kampf/

First published in The New English Weekly, March 21, 1940
That was a left wing publication.

Let that sink in. Even as the Nazis were bombing the shit out of England (and paper was rationed), Hitler's book could be purchased read legally.

A denunciatory review to be sure, but thoughtful, not just name calling.

Here's the end of the final paragraph.
George Orwell wrote: ... Whereas Socialism, and even capitalism in a more grudging way, have said to people ‘I offer you a good time,’ Hitler has said to them ‘I offer you struggle, danger and death,’ and as a result a whole nation flings itself at his feet. Perhaps later on they will get sick of it and change their minds, as at the end of the last war. After a few years of slaughter and starvation ‘Greatest happiness of the greatest number’ is a good slogan, but at this moment ‘Better an end with horror than a horror without end’ is a winner. Now that we are fighting against the man who coined it, we ought not to underrate its emotional appeal.”
... and the Allies still won the war. Rright?
.
.
... and THAT is what freedom of speech looks like.

I take a different view: if the Kiwi's don't have a problem with that form of censorship, I certainly don't; I don't even feel bad for them. I think the UK is in the same situation.

I am curious how far this censorship's arm reaches, though. Could you, Atheist, publish information on it here without fear of prosecution?

You mean it is like a quaint foreign custom that exemplifies the value of diversity? Like Suttee perhaps?
Sorry Rob, tossing homos off buildings should be condemned because it is a violation of basic human rights, as is stupid Kiwi censorship, regardless of the good reasons. The point of free speech is not to protect the inch deep blatherings of somebody like Atheist, it is to protect speech that is horrid and dangerous. What is the point of free speech otherwise.

BTW, please point me at the horrid picture that is too horrid for words (sounds like Lovecraft)
