Day trip to a free country (relatively speaking) and back

Post by Abdul Alhazred »

Wisconsin has been off lockdown since June 1, and today I drove up to Kenosha of that ilk (about an hour each way in good traffic on the interstate).

I had fried eggs in a diner.
Social distancing practiced in the seating arrangements between parties, but not crowded enough to be an issue.
Staff wearing face shields but no masks.

Some masks seen, and a quick check at a Walgreens shows the same shortages as Illinois.

Didn't get far enough into Wisconsin to see any sashimi vending machines.
That will have to wait for after the revolution assuming the inhabitants haven't gone the way of the Kulaks. :notsure:

Nice view of the lake right here. Google doesn't do it justice. ==> https://www.google.com/maps/@42.5656958 ... 312!8i6656

Were those fried eggs in aspic by any chance?
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Nope. Aspic is strictly for Shemp. :cowbell:

I spent my day taking advantage of Nevada’s relaxed (albeit not entirely eliminated) lockdowns to go visit an old ghost town and see some fossils.

Just checked. Iowa not on lockdown.

I haven't 100% decided yet but I may be taking this years Labor Day weekend there (as I have done before). 8)

Good they keep them varments chained up. I remember back in the day goldang ickys (we called them then) would flop around and eat small dogs and children.
... The stars were suns, but so far away they were just little points of light ... The scale of the universe suddenly opened up to me. It was a kind of religious experience. There was a magnificence to it, a grandeur, a scale which has never left me. Never ever left me.
