Bullshit terms

Post by ed »

"Curated" has been popping up a lot ...
Get started on Amazon Business by purchasing from our curated lists of business essential items.
Another one is "hand carved" as in loin of pork or some such crap....

"Artisanal" as in an artisan made the crap you are eating or carved your loin of pork.

Jesus ...

Just serving to piss me off.

Yeah a laundromat has a neon sign advertising "HAND WASHING".
What, I'm supposed to drop them off and come back later?

"Align" as in

"Let me walk you through this so that we are aligned."

or

"Can we align this slide with other slides in this deck."

or

"I just feel like the team is not in alignment on the ask."

I recall when they started using "metric" as a replacement for "measurement". It seemed and seems hugely pretentious.

Anyone have any experience with "industry standard"?

All work is performed to industry standard.

I know when I used it, the term was bullshit.
