Lister Goes Car Shopping

Post by Rob Lister »

It had to happen eventually. My nice ride died; a 2005 Honda Accord. I had taken very good care of it.

Spotless was the interior,
Pristine was the exterior,
Fuck! The engine was inferior.

The timing chain jumped a tooth was my best guess. Interference engine so the valves are likely smashed, possibly the pistons ... just not worth fixing.

Car Shopping I go.

I test drove every asian car on the market. I didn't bother with the 'Murican market; sue me.

The winner was a ruby-red 2021 Toyota Camry with AWD. I wanted a hybrid but they didn't have one in AWD, which I wanted more. Now I regret that, and here's why:

So the wife is impressed and decided that if I could have a new car, so could she. She traded in her 2016 CRV with middle trim and decided [with my help] and a 2021 Honda CRV Hybrid Touring model AWD and CVT. It has every possible option; powered seats, heated seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, and all the fucking safety features, remote start,...

It is a fucking joy to drive. 40 city / 35 highway.

Did you get any consideration from the dealer for the 2005?

The timing belt on a Honda Accord generally needs to be replaced about every 60,000-100,000 miles. Did you replace it or not?

↑ Add to that: it probably flies badly and drives awkwardly. But hey, a new tool in Darwin's toolbox!
