Nom de Guerre

Post by ed »

When the inevitable hostilities commence we will all need an identity.

Lister will be "Popeye"
Anax will be "Lily livered, furriner loving turncoat bastard"
Schutz will be "Another Lily livered, furriner loving turncoat bastard"

I have made my decision. I will henceforth be known as ....

I wish to be known as Burrito Ninja.

Swamp Fox? Ed thinks he’s Mel Gibson??

Note: you may think that swamp Fox sounds kinda macho... but the OG swamp Fox name was Francis Marion. Yeah, not one but TWO girls names. Which is presumably why he hid in a swamp.

I'm more likely to try to obstruct hostilities than participate in them. Which means that one side or the other will likely kill me early if it comes to that. No need for a special name.

Or, maybe Zenas. I'll leave the country until it blows over, and then die of the chestnut blight when I return. I commit one of Abdul's figamagees to anyone who knows that reference.

Spellcheck thinks that figamagees are jigamarees. Which is defined as "something (as a device or contrivance) felt to be too fanciful, difficult, or small in value to designate accurately." So there's that too now.
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.

Just because I said I was accepting applications from Chinese coeds wishing to trade their bodies for any secret information I might have?

In my defense, let it be known:

1. I don't actually have any secret information. (Ha! Ha!)*

2. As yet, I have been completely unsuccessful.

Thus, you should amend it to read "... failed furriner loving turncoat bastard."

* Shhhh! Don't tell them that! It's called a "reverse honey trap." 「反向蜂蜜陷阱」in Chinese. It's the newest thing in counterespionage.
