That was a great article and it's fantastic to see someone fighting back...but it's depressing the lengths to which one has to go, simply to prevent what should be considered elder abuse. :(

That is sick. I feel for the elderly and for those who fall for these things.
The depth of depravity that some people go to never fails to surprise me.

Yes, it's called "greed". A lot of these scams claim that the victim will receive a lot of money in return. A lot of email spam follows the same pattern. "Buy Windows XP $50" "You just won a free computer" "Free Viagra". The scams that promise huge returns are one thing, because the victim in many cases may think they're going to get something for practically nothing, but the charity scams are particularly reprehensible, because they take advantage of someone's good intentions.
