A couple of months ago my cardiologist (fired the fucker for various reasons) suggested that I drop a few/many. He recommended periodic fasting ie. a stalk of celery, a carrot repeated 3x a day (with lots of water) 3 days a week.

:shock:

Not sustainable for a day let alone a month.

So I said to myself: drop bread (why? because people say it's bad. I am too lazy to go further than that), drop sugar (even I realized I was overdoing it)
drop fat because yucccchy.

So I was left with my Yogurt/fruit/cottage cheese diet. I'll have chicken if I can catch one. Lots of Tahakimi sauce, lots of reduced balsalmic, roasted veggies even.

So... I started January at 215 (I am 6' even) this morning I was at 195. Pretty consistent rate of loss.

I also appreciate the psychological component. I keep a daily record posted publicly. Humiliation from family and friends is powerful. I make no note of the occasional uptick. The scale measures to 0.5 lb. I always round down. Reinforcement works even if you know it is happening.

n.b. at some point I will be able to propel my vast bulk fast enough to catch them, then we will see who laughs.

Target: 150. Why not. The gaunt look is nice and creepy.

Just as an aside, I've found seafood salad enormously helpful, (without the super-fattening dressings, just a squeeze of lemon juice and a few jalapenos to liven things up a bit.)

Heh. It's cheap, (and highly nutritious). Three large bags of frozen mixed shellfish from Farmfoods for £10 keeps me going for a week, (with a bit of rabbit food on the side.)

After I had my close encounter with oblivion and subsequent stent installation my cardiologist insisted that I get on the Keto diet: Eat protein and fat and stay away from all carbs (this, of course includes sugar). Complete blasphemy according to what they told us when my Dad had his stone knives and bear skins open heart procedure decades ago. Presumably by cutting the carbs you're teaching your metabolism to burn fat for fuel in place of sugar.

I dropped 10 pounds quite quickly too and then over the course of a year got back 2 or 3. Holding at 155 to 158 and I look at it every bloody day.

Meat, eggs, butter, cheese, are back in! Vegies are OK too, but do your research on them as some are nothing but carbs. The holy grail is avocados. Anything that satisfies a sweet tooth is fucking well out. No bread, rice, pasta. Ever. And for the rest of your life.

Fuck but I miss bread, rice, pasta. My skin hangs on my bones like a bad orange peeling paint job.

Ain't getting old just fucking grand? :)

It's now twenty years since I was diagnosed with diabetes and sparks' diet is close to the one I've been following all that time.

The only thing I really miss, and I mean really miss, is sherry trifle.

I dream about it.

Down to 192 (for 3 days so it is real).

see, rather than get discouraged because I am stuck, I tell myself that this is my new "normal". That makes me feel the thrill of accomplishment, down my leg.

But that is a full 20 lbs since Jan1 .

Yoghurt - yum

BTW no backsliding yet.

I note that I said I started at 212. That was a damn lie. It was 215.

Interestingly, while I used to gorge on Milano cookies or Choclate Choclate Chip IC with fat free whipped cream (like a fat fuck drinking diet cola) I will have a protein drink smoothie or more yogurt as an evening snack. I am trying to eliminate that too.

No sugar, no fat, no bread. None.

Having a Yurt would seem appropriate.

I lost over 11kg (24 lbs) since Jan 1st. I've been eating all foodstuffs, but not much of them.

I always find it incredibly difficult (near impossible) to get started on a diet, but once I do start then I find it pretty easy to stick to after the first few days. Problem is that when I get near my goal weight, I start to allow myself a few treats - and then that snowballs into piling the weight back on again.

Hopefully, this time will be different - but I've said the same thing every previous time.

Down to 190 this AM.
Tell you exactly what I ate yesterday

7am Greek yogurt w/ fresh raspberries a some blueberries

11:30 Pr0tean drink w/3 tablespoons plain yogurt and one small orange whipped

1 pm sumo orange (lots of oranges it seems)

6:30 ish three/four tbs of 2% cottage cheese with mandarin slices added

7:30 yogurt/berries again. Protean drink plain

Jesus, looking at it it is fucking boring, isn't it? Also ... why am I not dead with all that natural crap?

BTW that is more or less what I have been eating for 2.5 months. Usually there is something approaching a normal meal in the middle of the day.

Well, 188 as of 4/1. Holding steady.

Goal I think is ~165 by 7/1.

That could come thru continued dieting or thru decomposition due to death from the Chink Virus.
