One recent post came from the mother of a 4-year-old Colorado boy who died from the flu this week. In it, she consulted group members while noting that she had declined to fill a prescription written by a doctor.

The child had not been diagnosed yet, but he was running a fever and had a seizure, the mother wrote. She added that two of her four children had been diagnosed with the flu and that the doctor had prescribed the antiviral Tamiflu for everyone in the household.

“The doc prescribed tamiflu I did not pick it up,” she wrote.
None of the 45 comments on the mother’s Facebook post suggested medical attention. The child was eventually hospitalized and died four days later, according to a GoFundMe started on his behalf by his family.

The mother also wrote that the “natural cures” she was treating all four of her children with — including peppermint oil, Vitamin C and lavender — were not working and asked the group for more advice. The advice that came in the comments included breastmilk, thyme and elderberry, none of which are medically recommended treatments for the flu.

“Perfect, I’ll try that,” the mother responded.

The mother’s recent posts have now been deleted from Stop Mandatory Vaccination, but in group posts going back to 2017 she said she had not vaccinated her children from the flu.

Not to mention the fact that MMR is given between 12 and fifteen months and the pictured child is clearly far less than one year old.

Asshole of the year:
Suicide note confession: Doctor says he didn't vaccinate children despite parents' wishes

An Illinois doctor admitted in a suicide note that he went against parents’ wishes and may not have vaccinated their children, local police said.

In response, Cook County health officials issued a notice to the former patients of the late pediatrician Dr. Van Koinis, according to WGN-TV in Chicago.

His note reportedly mentioned how he felt “horrible regrets” over the way he’d handled cases in the past decade, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart told the outlet.

Police suggested he may have forged vaccination documents to trick unsuspecting parents.

It’s unclear just how many patients were affected because Koinis’ records were incomplete and in disarray. The Chicago Sun-Times reported he had had a licence to practice medicine since 1991 and mostly dealt with patients in Chicago’s southwest side.

Sheriff Dart told the newspaper he had been “tortured” by the case of the doctor, whose note stated he had been “averse” to vaccinations and “regretted his conduct with immunizations.”

Fuck him up the ass with a lit stick of dynamite. How many kids did he kill? And now thousands of people don't know if they were vaccinated or not.

Mumps cases at highest level in a decade as a result of 'anti-vax information', says government

‘The rise in mumps cases is alarming and yet another example of the long-term damage caused by anti-vax information,’ says health secretary

A person’s risk of contracting mumps can be reduced exponentially by having an MMR vaccine, which protects against mumps, measles and rubella.

According to provisional data released by Public Health England (PHE), in 2019 5,042 cases of mumps were confirmed in England.

This marks the highest number of confirmed cases in 10 years, with just over a fifth of that figure (1,066) confirmed in 2018.

PHE warned that the increased prevalence of mumps cases is likely to continue this year.

The agency reported 546 confirmed cases of the viral infection in January 2020, a notable increase from the 191 cases confirmed across the country in January 2019.

PHE stated that the “steep rise in cases in 2019 has been largely driven by outbreaks in universities and colleges”.

“Many of the cases in 2019 were seen in the so-called ‘Wakefield cohorts’ – young adults born in the late nineties and early 2000s who missed out on the MMR vaccine when they were children,” the governmental organisation explained.

“These cohorts are now old enough to attend college and university and are likely to continue fuelling outbreaks into 2020.”

The best thing this mother could do for her kid is to turn the kid over to Child Protection Services, then go home and blow out her own brains (if she has any).

Anti-vaxxers wage war in Conn., lawmaker calls vaccines “witches brew”

A bill to ban religious vaccine exemptions faces intense protest.

The battle over vaccinations ramped up in Connecticut this week as state lawmakers narrowly advanced a bill—with last-minute amendments—aimed at banning religious vaccine exemptions for children.

If passed, the measure will no longer allow parents to cite their religious beliefs as a valid reason not to provide their children with life-saving immunizations, which are otherwise required for entry into public and private schools and daycares.

The legislature’s public health committee passed the bill Monday in a 14-11 vote but not before making a last-minute amendment that would grandfather in children who already have such an exemption. As passed, the amended legislation would only apply to children newly enrolling.

The bill was spurred by reports from state health officials of a 25-percent spike in religious exemptions from last year, lowering overall vaccination rates in state schools. According to the Connecticut health department, 2.5 percent of kindergarteners have religious exemptions. The department estimated that about 7,800 children were granted a religious exemption in the 2018-2019 school year.

As such, the statewide rate of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccinations among kindergarteners dropped 0.4 percentage points in the past year, bringing the current rate to 95.9 percent. While health officials consider 95 percent the threshold for effective herd immunity, vaccination rates are not consistent across schools. That is, some schools have clusters of unvaccinated children, increasing their risk of outbreaks. According to state data, 134 schools have MMR rates below 95 percent, and 41 schools have MMR rates below 90 percent.

“Witches brew”

“The risk of unvaccinated children is going to increase” if lawmakers do nothing, Democratic state Sen. Saud Anwar, a physician from South Windsor, told the Hartford Courant. “It’s happening in other parts of the world.”

But, as in other states, anti-vaccine advocates were swift to protest the proposed law. Last week, a public hearing on the bill reportedly drew thousands of people, and hundreds of anti-vaccine advocates signed up to testify. The hearing stretched on for an exhausting 21 hours. Anti-vaccine advocates returned to the capitol Monday to protest the bill.

The protests clearly influenced lawmakers’ decisions, with some suggesting that the anti-vaccine protests should spur a slower review of the bill.

Germany: Law mandating vaccines in schools takes effect

Measles vaccinations in Germany are now required to register in schools. Parents can be fined thousands of euros if they violate the law.

A law requiring mandatory measles vaccinations came into force on Sunday in Germany. The law, which was passed last year, stipulates that kindergartens and schools can only accept new children if they have been vaccinated.

Under the new law, kids must be "verifiably" inoculated against measles. If the child's immunization is not documented, schools will be required to notify the local public health office.

For children already enrolled in schools, proof of vaccination will have to be presented by July 2021, while parents who refuse to vaccinate their children will face fines of up to €2,500 ($2,760).

Parental outcry

The law has not come into force without criticism, however. The German GEW teachers' union has said that although it backs mandatory vaccination, the burden to vet vaccination certificates will be placed on educators. The requirement will also put teachers at risk of having to argue with parents over student registration.

On Sunday, a group of parents protested outside of the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe after filing a complaint that the law violates their constitutional rights.

They do not object to the vaccinations themselves, but say that the law violates their right to make their own decisions based on "relevant, independent and neutral information." Groups including the Initiative for Free Choice on Vaccinations and the Association of Doctors for Individual Decisionmaking.
