Apparently not so many are interested in education here. Not only that, but they seem to have gone back into the woodwork. They're like ants.

Jesus H Christ!

A thread that will not die in the Education forum of all places?

Better post something of educational value real quick and kill this thread. :P

I emerged from PS 63:
http://www.insideschools.org/fs/school_profile.php?id=6
http://schools.nycenet.edu/Region9/ps63/

This is where I got my first kick in the balls at age six.

Yes I really went to elementary school there.

Notice that they mis-capitalized "McKinley" as "Mckinley". Typical.

Yeah, the school numbering thing is just creepy. Every school here is named after someone who deserves better than a street but below a high school. Usually they were involved in the school board, and usually they're long dead.

Robert Klein had a piece about school numbers on his album "Child of the 50s". Something along the lines of "Everybody goes to a school with a name. 'Where'd you go?' 'Abraham Lincoln Jr. High in Des Moines.' 'I went to Millard Fillmore High in Boise.' I went to PS 94. NYC is the only place where you actually sing songs to numbers! 'I wanna be the kinda boy that 94 can boast about!' '80, dear 80, your name will rise above...' your name will rise above 79...."

BTW, Klein actually went to DeWitt Clinton HS in NYC, which just goes to show that not all schools there have numbers. And I went to New Albany High School in New Albany, Indiana, a fact I'm not necessarily proud of.
