Ex-Schools Chief in Atlanta Is Indicted in Testing Scandal

Post by Rob Lister »

After a 2½-year investigation, Beverly L. Hall, a former district superintendent who won fame and fortune for her performance, was charged with racketeering, theft and other crimes in the doctoring of students' test answers.
cheater, liars, the lot of them.

The kids here probably didn't really suffer too much. They were going to be taught by the same folks in the same way regardless. That's a way that works good enough for government word.

Anyway, the article is pretty well-written and well worth the read. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/30/us/fo ... .html?_r=0

The public school system is too corrupt to be reformed.

Destroy it and start fresh on the local level.

And anyone associated with the existing public school system and anyone with a degree in "Education" cannot be employed in the new system.
Former teachers especially must never be allowed to have any job that puts them in contact with children.

" While defense lawyers worked to have their clients freed, a group of black clergy members and former educators spoke out, calling the charges and the bail extreme and an indication of a deeper, long-simmering racial divide in the city and the state.

The Rev. Timothy McDonald, a local pastor and spokesman for the group Concerned Black Clergy, noted that the investigators were white and the accused were largely black.

"Look at the pictures of those 35. Show me a white face," he said. "Let's just be for real. You can call it racist, you can call it whatever you want, but this is overkill. We have seen people with much deeper crimes with much less bond set."

Get the politicians out of it, even if the system must be privatized, and the bulk of the corruption will go away.

Local control is what is important.

Privatization could be some big corporation running the show.

get the future thugs in the system while they're young and you manage the teachers at the same time. These guys know hot to do it and the smart investor can make some money off it too. http://www.cca.com/

I've had, and I've seen my kids have, too many good teachers for me to think this is anything but bluster. Come back when you have a real suggestion.
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"
