"The Natural News article is unsupported by evidence. We rate it False."

Politifact fails again.

Whats new?

If Joe Biden had said that, it would be yellow and not red.

"It is possible the virus escaped a lab, but there is no smoking gun."

Politifact you should dogear as possibly under chinese influence.
Good grief. Don't be an idiot. The claim in the natural news article is as false as false can be.

In response to a request from the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine convened a standing committee of experts to help inform OSTP on critical science and policy issues related to emerging infectious diseases and other public health threats. The standing committee includes members with expertise in emerging infectious diseases, public health, public health preparedness and response, biological sciences, clinical care and crisis standards of care, risk communication, and regulatory issues. This publication responds to questions concerning the possibility that the SARS-Cov-2 virus could be spread by conversation, in addition to sneeze/cough-induced droplets.

Just breathing or talking may be enough to spread COVID-19 after all
Experts had said that the virus spreads only through large droplets from a cough or sneeze
Late or never, eh?

If it only spreads through large droplets, a mask 😷 would seem to be effective.

I thought of an analogy. Suppose you are playing a role playing game and your character has an open slot for a piece of armor. Would you choose to not wear the piece of armor if it offers imperfect protection? Even if it only blocks 30% of attacks, it's better than nothing. Hell yeah, you're going to put on that piece of armor until you find a better piece. Masks aren't perfect but they are better than nothing.

Gonna have to roll our own. I have a sewing machine and old shirts and bandannas and crap like that but nothing really good, and good luck getting fabric/elastic/sewing supplies from the stores now. Guess I should have thought ahead and bought early in the game. Seems like I have a respirator mask that takes filter pads around here somewhere.

Not planning to go running out to Walmart. Maybe Harbor Freight.

Ironically, such an opening is referred to as a "chink" in one's armor.

I would use a towel rather than an old t-shirt.

Jeez, dudes. Have you guys never seen a bad guy in TV Western? A handkerchief across the face is adequately sufficient.

And you can be as stylish with it as you please.

That was a few months ago during the beginning of the pandemic before the media was reporting on it, and they they reported CCP propaganda.

Watching it in retrospect is surreal, but the tone is important. Most people don't understand the psychology of China.

You can't watch that video, of before the case blowup, and have any faith at all in Chinese current numbers.

Snip: "A town 7 km from where the virus was discovered in Wuhan had a state run banquet with 100,000 people eating off of the same dishes. This was 2 days after 49 cases were confirmed in Wuhan, China. "

If everything in that video is true, it's natural. It came from bats, not something "engineered" by mad scientists. It does seem a bit strange to me that scientists would be so careless with viruses to allow themselves to be infected.

I just see a lot of parallels here with people who think that 9/11 was an inside job by the government or the government has weapons that they use to cause earthquakes, or sprays chemicals out of airplanes.

But maybe it didn't get into humans through a "wet market" but through scientists studying the virus in bats. If so, they were very careless to allow themselves to be sprayed with fluids from these animals. But I'll concede it's a possibility.

The hijab doesn't cover the face, so let's go full Tuareg:

I'm a time shifted person Pyrrho. I live 2-3 weeks ahead and just wait for reality to catch up.

Austria has a law that people grocery shopping have to cover their faces.

After all, social distancing means the essential stores are the most likely places to catch.

Yes. One of my sons works at a grocery store. Wears gloves, follows the rules, etc. Store has provided masks in case any of the employees feel the need to wear them. We're not in a high-count case area...I don't know what difference that makes.

We'll see how it goes.
