A professor here at UVA has converted the density fluctuations of the early universe into sounds (shifted up by approximately 50 octaves). You can read the story here.

I listened to a bunch of those. Pretty neat. Sounds like the sound effects to "Forbidden Planet".

Slightly off topic, but I loved this article on his page. Easily the most non-technical description of the origin of matter I've ever read.
