Somebody has to do this job

But it won't be me.

I've seen this before. It scared me before. I watched it again. It scared me again.

I think the movement of the fish-eye camera creates a lot of the scariness.

Yeah, I've seen it before and it scared the crap out of me, too. I'm big on vertigo.

This one's even worse, and they're doing it for fun.

Shit happens. The older you get, the more often shit happens. So you have to try not to give a shit even when you do. Because, if you give too many shits, you've created your own shit creek and there's no way out other than swimming through the shit. Oh, and fuck.

Anyone have a clue when it was built, and why? The cement, sand, and water needed to make all that concrete must have been a hell of a chore, not to mention all the steel supports and guard rails.

It was built between 1901 and 1905 for construction workers building hydroelectric power plants. Wiki.

You wouldn't get me on it, not even with ropes.

The way that guy would walk across the beams where the concrete had crumbled away was hair-raising.

He did it like he was taking a casual stroll. Only thousands of feet up.

My stomach was doing butterflies the entire time I watched him.

And the guy who climbed the crane has to be fucking INSANE.

Eek!

Some people simply aren't afraid of heights, something I don't and never will understand.

Our best man is one of them; he fell off his roof and very nearly died while attempting roof repairs. He's still not afraid of heights!

Heights where I'm not protected make me very queasy.

These videos made me feel very nervous.

I have no idea how people can do shit like that, and do it casually.

I'm astounded that they did it without trucks, or helicopters, or power tools, or Mexicans (did they hire illegal Portuguese imigrants??). Hell, you couldn't even use a wheel barrow without all those stairs. They must have carried up those i-beams and buckets of cement up there one at a time.

Imagine mounting just one of those i-beams. I'm picturing someone dangling by a rope with a hand held jackhammer to bore the hole, then pounding it in with a sledge hammer.

How did they lay the cement? Slap some ply-wood on top of the I-beams then pour it in?

There, that should hold for maybe 5 years.....

I don't know. I'd imagine they built a huge scaffold and used that to get the materials and work force up there. I tried to look up the history, but don't speak Spanish.

And they would have had "trucks", either gas or steam powered as well as rudimentary power tools.

To get to the base of the mountain, maybe, although I didn't see any roads at the base of the mountain. And according to my wikistory, trucks weren't widely available in 1901.

Steam-powered traction engines have been around for a very long time.

Should be illegal. There is no reason why we need to support the daredevil antics of the 1%ers. Who would pay for the rescue? Or the medical expenses. Government should step in.
