Craigslist Posters Are Already Trying to Sell Their Used Eclipse Glasses as Collectors’ Items

Though the best-selling glasses on Amazon are priced at around $30 to$50 for a pack, it’s not uncommon to see used glasses listed for hundreds of dollars on Craigslist.

I kind of understand the impulse, because the sorts of things that end up being wildly valuable are the things that were never intended to be collectibles in the first place (I.e. cheap "Carnival Glass", just a gimmicky item given out at county fairs and such in the early 20th century, really valuable now). Likewise, if you want to guarantee something will never rise in value, market it explicitly as a collector's item.

But still, I doubt there will be a hot market for souvenir eclipse glasses even 3 months from now.

This is the best idea I have seen for what to do with them, donate them so kids in poor countries can view eclipses in their parts of the world in the next few years.

More proof the EU is evil (and predicted in the book of Revelation).

And the sun looks like a crescent moon, which is the symbol of Islam, so obviously ISIS was in on it too.

That's how the "Loose Change" idiots started, they made a satire then got lost in a torrent of their own bullshit.

In May 2003, when researching for a fictional screenplay based on the 9/11 attacks, writer Dylan Avery felt there was enough evidence to support the 9/11 conspiracy theories that the attacks were orchestrated by members of the United States government, and started working on a non-fiction version.

So not a bona fide satire as in a comic look at conspiracies?

Another FAILure, Gram, another in a long side line of FAILure.

I think if you look at the definition of satire you will find that you don't have a drumstick to stand on with your criticism.

Evasion noted.
[a. F. satire (= Sp. sátira, Pg., It. satira, G. satire), or directly ad. L. satira, later form of satura, in early use a discursive composition in verse treating of a variety of subjects, in classical use a poem in which prevalent follies or vices are assailed with ridicule or with serious denunciation. The word is a specific application of satura medley; this general sense appears in the phrase per saturam in the lump, indiscriminately; according to the grammarians this is elliptical for lanx satura (lit. ‘full dish’: lanx dish, satura, fem. of satur full, related to satis enough), which is alleged to have been used for a dish containing various kinds of fruit, and for food composed of many different ingredients.

### Re: Total eek-lips 2017

Just got back. Watched the eclipse in Bledsoe Creek State Park in Tennessee, which was packed with people from all over as it's near the center of totality. Perfect weather (heat and humidity excluded), few clouds but mostly clear sky. One thin cloud crossed the sun about 10 minutes before totality. Totality was completely unobstructed, it was as if the lights suddenly went off, about the same darkness well after sunset but when the western horizon still glows a bit. The black moon surrounded by the corona is just awesome to see in person, like the Grand Canyon pictures and video don't do it justice. Then you get the "diamond ring" for a few seconds and then the lights come back on. If I'm alive in 2024 will definitely go watch that one too, it's even much closer.

And the state park was free, and the Army Corps of Engineers campground we stayed at in KY was a whopping $68 for 4 nights. Last edited by WildCat on Wed Aug 23, 2017 2:44 am, edited 1 time in total. Had to work as predicted elsewhere on this august board. 92 percent at my location. Hardly worth going outside.

Fuck.

Good news is: These assholes keep this shit up on my ass, I'm going to melt down and quit. Fuck 'em.
