Re: Tesla Roadster Launched Into Orbit Around Sun
That was pretty spectacular. I guess since it's a test flight and you need to simulate a payload might as well do something whimsical like send a car with a spaceman mannequin driver into orbit around the sun for the next billion years.

Great, now it's a five year wait for the BFR.
It's "pea-can", man.

Now Tesla can boast a range of a couple billion miles on a single charge!

If nothing else this will test the paint job on the Roadster. It appears to be in a BBQ roll to avoid overheating. Still, it's getting broiled and frozen in a continuous cycle.
Also, is that bird shit on the windscreen?
And it appears the last burn [somehow] overshot its mark.

https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/6/16983 ... -musk-marsElon Musk’s Tesla roadster, which launched on top of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy earlier today, is going farther out into the Solar System than originally planned. The car was supposed to be put on a path around the Sun that would take the vehicle out to the distance of Mars’ orbit. But the rocket carrying the car seems to have overshot that trajectory and has put the Tesla in an orbit that extends out into the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

The two rockets landing were cool

So the center stage blued up and they missed their Mars orbit. THANK GOD their were no actual people on board. This is proof of Musk's incompetence! Such a failure.

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Re: Tesla Roadster Launched Into Orbit Around Sun
So what is the fate of Starman and his Tesla
I'm pretty confident the tires were flattened and the airbags removed before launch. The batteries were probably removed as well. Unnecessary risks all.First, the vacuum of space will have already affected some of the car's systems. Tyres will have deflated or burst, and airbags will have gone off unless they were already removed or deactivated.
https://www.msn.com/en-ph/autos/news/wh ... ar-BBIUxmuThe biggest problem the Tesla faces is cosmic radiation. Our atmosphere protects us from this, but the Tesla will be fully exposed, and according to molecular expert William Carroll will not last a year in the tough conditions.
He said: "All the organics will be subjected to degradation by the various kinds of radiation that you will run into there.
"Those materials are largely made up of carbon-carbon bonds and carbon-hydrogen bonds. Those organics, in that environment, I wouldn't give them a year."
Eventually, the Tesla will be reduced to just its inorganic parts. However, with no outside influence, it's likely to remain at least outwardly presentable for a lot longer. Tesla fan blog Teslarati reports "If an aspiring car collector tried to recover the eccentric and historic trophy from space in several centuries/millennia, Roadster would very likely fall to pieces or even crumble to dust when moved or placed in an environment with any significant gravity."

They forgot to factor in the effects of the Martian wind.
