A new exponential mathematics for digital data compression

Post by xouper » Fri Oct 19, 2018 10:32 pm

That's the title of a kindle book I just got for free on amazon.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #1 in Mathematics Research

No guarantee how long it will be free, so get it while you can.

Also no guarantee that it's worth your time to read it, but I decided to post this anyway since it might not be free by the time I get around to reading it and evaluating the algorithm.

I have looked at it briefly and it's not written by a mathematician. Although that's a red flag, it is not an automatic disqualification.

Another problem is that it seems English is not the author's native language.

He claims a breakthrough in data compression of up to 90 percent using his algorithm. (I assume lossless, but I don't know yet.)

It's self published and thus apparently no peer review.

If I had to guess, I'd say this book has "crank" written all over it, but I'm not willing to make that call yet.

However, if it's the real thing, then I assume this will become known soon enough in the computer science field.

Otherwise, never mind.

Irregardless*, this free book gets me one closer to my goal of one million free kindle books. I'm now a third of the way there.

* Footnote: Yeah, I went there. I used that word. :P
