The spraying disinfectant is strictly PR and a complete waste of effort. If it's on the footpath, you're not going to catch it walking around on it.
My wife does yoga on our floors. We take off our shoes when we come inside now.

Droplets go to the floor, your shoes pick up droplets.

Tampa megachurch pastor arrested after leading packed services despite 'safer-at-home' orders

TAMPA, Fla. - The pastor of a Tampa megachurch is facing charges after refusing to close its doors despite a "safer at home" order in effect in Hillsborough County, meant to stop the spread of COVID-19. The sheriff says up to 500 people were in attendance at Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne's Sunday services.

Sheriff Chad Chronister and State Attorney Andrew Warren on Monday announced that an arrest warrant had been issued for Pastor Howard-Browne. He faces misdemeanor charges of unlawful assembly and violation of public health emergency order.

The River at Tampa Bay Church held two services Sunday, Chronister said, and even offered bus transportation for those services. The chuch's livestream showed a packed crowd cheering and applauding.

"They have access to technology allowing them to livestream their services over the internet and broadcast to their 400 members from the safety of their own homes, but instead they chose to gather at church," Chronister said during a press conference.

Japan likely under-reported because of the Olympics. They are also a mask culture.

South Korea had inaccurate tests and they always get credit for using them. People miss the big picture.

One of my early predictions to a friend, is that some country will seem to succeed even though they failed. This will cause all sorts of wasted cycles replicating their failure.

We're chasing our tails for the ever pushing goalposts of testing, when the masks are what actually deter spread.

Testing everyone today this very minute at the same time doesn't stop it. Think about it. There are still surfaces with the live virus.

Every country is beating up their leaders about testing right now. Except China. Because they stopped testing and you can't beat up their government as a citizen.

According to the most recent WHO figures, Japan has officially recorded 54 deaths due to coronavirus as of the most recent situation report (30 March)
One of the 54 happens to be a very famous celebrity, Ken Shimura (well, famous in Japan). What are the odds?

BTW, just looking at the numbers in the sitreps, it does seem that the vast majority of both deaths and total cases are in the temperate regions of the Northern hemisphere. The tropics, and the Southern hemisphere, where it's still warm at this time of year, not so many by comparison. Australia has 16 deaths, New Zealand 1 (per WHO)

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ohio-abort ... essential/
All of Ohio's abortion clinics have been ordered to stop providing the procedure as the state clamps down on medical services to preserve protective gear amid the growing coronavirus outbreak. The order, if enforced, would make abortion even more difficult to obtain in a state that's been aggressively attempting to limit and restrict the procedure.

On Friday, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost sent letters to two facilities that provide abortion — Women's Med Center in Dayton and Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio's Cincinnati Surgery Center — ordering them to stop providing any services, like abortion, that require the use of personal protective equipment, said Bethany McCorkle, a spokesperson for the Ohio Attorney General's office, in an email to CBS News Saturday morning.

"You and your facility are ordered to immediately stop performing non-essential and elective surgical abortions. Non-essential surgical abortions are those that can be delayed without undue risk to the current or future health of a patient," Yost wrote in the letter, which was shared with CBS News.
Update on this:
Federal Judges Block Texas and Ohio Coronavirus Abortion Bans
There was bad news on Monday for states trying to use the coronavirus pandemic to halt abortions: Two federal judges ruled that pretextual pretexts are just pretexts. Clinics in Ohio and Texas will remain open, at least for the time being. As my colleague Christina Cauterucci reported last week, Republican governors in both Ohio and Texas tried opportunistically to halt abortions in their states by claiming that the procedures are not-essential and that states should redirect personal protective equipment, including masks and gloves, away from clinics so they can better serve coronavirus patients. Of course, women actually need abortion services even more during such crises, clinics don’t use most of the essential medical equipment necessary to fight the virus, and most abortions are time-sensitive procedures that can’t be delayed indefinitely.

Administration possibly coming around on masks:

Trump says he could see recommending all Americans wear masks
President Donald Trump said Monday he could foresee a scenario where all Americans are recommended to wear masks in public to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The idea, which was raised in a road map on combating coronavirus authored by his former Food and Drug Administration head, Dr. Scott Gottlieb, runs counter to the current government directive that masks aren't necessary for most people.
Trump said that could potentially change, but only for a short period.
"I saw his suggestion on that. We will take a look at it," the President said during his daily news briefing, saying he hadn't discussed the idea yet with his task force.
A source close to the coronavirus task force said the idea of asking Americans to wear masks for a period of time during the pandemic is likely to be under "serious discussion."
The source said part of the issue with the recommendation is the current supply of masks would not meet the ongoing demand. Then, of course, there is the issue of medical professionals who still lack critical personal protective equipment due to supply shortages.
"You don't want to create a shortage for health care workers," the source said.
Trump said that if he does offer that recommendation, it would be for "a period of time, not forever."

"We want our country back," the President said during the Rose Garden briefing. "We are not going to be wearing masks forever, but it could be for a short period of time after we get back into gear. I could see something like that happening for a period of time."
"I would hope it would be a very limited period of time," he said.

Meanwhile in Malaysia ...

Malaysia calls on women to 'stop nagging, use makeup' in coronavirus advice
Dhaka Tribune (Bangladesh)
Coronavirus lockdown advice issued by Malaysia that urges women to dress up at home and avoid nagging their husbands sparked a sexism row on Tuesday, with critics saying it promotes gender stereotypes.

In a series of online posters with the hashtag #WomenPreventCOVID19, Malaysia's women's affairs ministry issued advice on how to avoid domestic conflicts during the partial lockdown, which began on March 18.

One of the campaign posters depicted a man sitting on a sofa, and asked women to refrain from being "sarcastic" if they need help with household chores.

Avoid nagging your husband, another poster said, attempting to inject humour by using a voice similar to the anime character Doraemon - a blue robot cat popular across Asia.

The ministry also urged women to dress up and wear their makeup while working from home.

Scott Adams today turned my world into bizarro world. I said you should follow Dr. John Campbell, Peak Prosperity, and Scott Adams to say ahead of things. I should you should treat it as information and just use your brain. Fog of war.

Masks work (to a large degree).

Scotts' opening point today is that the CDC, WHO, and Surgeon General are all wrong about masks. So stop trusting them. Listen to them, use your brain, but don't trust them implicitly.

Which is what I was saying about him, John, and Matthew.

He's got a point.

From March 12:
There's no doubt viruses can survive and be aerosolised.

But the numbers and growth of the disease shows that it's not the primary driver.

Wearing masks universally would certainly help, but hand hygiene needs to be given equal or greater prominence, otherwise it won't matter.
