You British bastards killed all our heffalumps!

This has now been proven by science and reported by the BBC, no less:

The arc of the moral universe bends towards chaos.
People who believe God or History are on their side provide the chaos.

*Possibly.
Perhaps you shouldn't have wiped out your avatar, and then the Aussies wouldn't have taken up sports!

Real football was invented in the United States of America, buddy!

Canadian football is OK, too. The rules are slightly different, but it is still a variant of the real thing.

But "footie" is just an excuse to get drunk and burn cars.

Oh, I see. Not just content with knocking our national sport, you're gunning for our pre- and post-match activities now, huh? :D

Nonsense. That's why "football" is called "football". The American version is called "American Football" to show that it is a derivation. Ditto "Rugby football", "Australian rules football", et al.

Quite apart from that, Henry VIII is noted for having banned football, and there were no such things as Americans back then. So ner.

Oh yes, and the armour your lot wear on the pitch is risible.

Actually, there's a question there. Since many Americans are litigation crazed, have any American footballers been sued for assault?

Wasn't able to Google any, but I found this to be quite ironic:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/footba ... _violence/
Before the 1997 season, amid growing concern about violence in the league, the NFL adopted an anti-violence policy, the only one of its kind among the major U.S. sports. The NFL's Violent Crime Policy today calls for a mandatory psychological evaluation for any player accused of a violent crime, and a fine or suspension for those convicted of or admitting to a violent crime.

So the new season starts in September 2009 then?
