I've read – but haven't bookmarked the article – that the US donated ~ 2 M$ to surrounding countries, particularly Colombia, to help with the Venezuelan refugees.
That's for, over the years, about 600.000 people…

Meanwhile; Venezuela hopes to tackle the world’s worst inflation by deleting zeros from its currency
Okay, look Nicky, why not just offer pony's...CARACAS, Venezuela — Economic pledges may be par for the course in election campaigns, but in hyperinflationary Venezuela, the candidates' dueling promises are going further, with the incumbent vowing to lop a few zeros off the currency, while his main challenger calls for the adoption of the U.S. dollar.
President Nicolás Maduro late Thursday briefly outlined his monetary rescue plan. In a country where a dozen eggs can cost 250,000 bolivars ($5) amid worsening inflation, he would chop three zeros off the currency — arguably bringing the price for those eggs down to 250.
I mean, it works all the time here in the USA...It should work, even in a socialist paradise, no?

At 16, Liliana has become the mother figure for a gang of Venezuelan children and young adults called the Chacao, named after the neighborhood they’ve claimed as their territory. The 15 members, ranging in age from 10 to 23, work together to survive vicious fights for “quality” garbage in crumbling, shortage-plagued Venezuela. Their weapons are knives and sticks and machetes. The prize? Garbage that contains food good enough to eat.

Venezuela's devastating food crisis means wheat flour has become a rare commodity in the country. Some churches have run out of the ingredient needed to make the sacramental bread that is central to celebrating the Holy Eucharist throughout the year -- and on Easter Sunday, according to local reports.

Excuse me ... in extremus any person (even you) can act as a priest. Giving the last rites for example.
Here is a candid woodcut of you giving last rites

Somehow I suspect that you demanded payment. Whatever.

Update: 5 police officials suspected in Venezuela jail fire detaineded wrote:https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/29/worl ... v=top-newsAfter Dozens Die in a Jail Fire, Venezuela Tear-Gasses Their Relatives
Not a shithole.
Which story is to be believed?CARACAS, Venezuela — Five police officials are suspected of being responsible for a fire that killed 68 people in a police station jail in Venezuela and have been detained, the nation’s chief prosecutor said Saturday.
Tarek William Saab wrote on Twitter that the officials are believed “responsible for the tragic events that caused the death of 68 citizens” but provided no further details.
...
Relatives and human rights advocates have been pressing the government to provide a full account of what happened at the police station jail on Wednesday morning. Some family members of those killed have said their loved ones called before the fire and said their jailers were pouring gasoline in the cellblock. Other accounts suggest it was the inmates themselves who started the blaze in an attempt to escape.

Earlier this week, four journalists from the investigative website Armando.info have been forced to leave the troubled country citing fears of state persecution after they were sued by a business executive with ties to Maduro’s party. Armando.info is a long-term partner of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and worked on many projects, including the two most recent projects, Panama Papers and Paradise Papers.
Their dramatic investigative series last year revealed how Colombian executive Alex Saab took advantage of connections, government contracts and an offshore enterprise to sell food at inflated prices to a government program meant to feed Venezuela’s desperately poor.
