Germany Launches ‘How to Identify Nazi Parents’ Guide For Schools
Breitbart
A new booklet for daycare workers that claims to help identify “Nazi parents” suggests looking out for girls with braided hair and athletic boys.
The 60-page booklet, entitled Ene, Mene, Muh – And You’re Out! was designed by the far-left “anti-hate” Amadeu Antonio Foundation ,which is headed by former Stasi informant Annette Kahane and based in Berlin with the foreword being written by Social Democrat (SPD) Family Minister Franziska Giffey, Berliner Kurier reports.

Ms Kahane made headlines in 2015 after the German government recruited her and the foundation to scour social media for “xenophobic posts” during the height of the migrant crisis.

Vice-Chairman of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) parliamentary group Nadine Schön slammed the booklet saying the case studies and suggestions were “absurd.”

“If educators should become overseers and correctors of parental convictions, that [crosses a line],” Schön said.

Labelling the practice “parenting espionage” — or spying on parents — the CDU politician criticised the aspects of the booklet that identifies the way children dress or how much physical activity they participate in as being potential signs their parents might be Nazis. saying it does not fit with democracy.

Pity it's Breitbart. Apart from some German right-wing media a quick googling brought nothing on the subject, so it hasn't made a big splash. But here's a picture of Frau Annette Kahane:

Came across the "Zentrum für politische Schönheit":
Center for Political Beauty

The Center for Political Beauty is an assault team that establishes moral beauty, political poetry and human greatness while aiming to preserve humanitarianism. The group’s basic understanding is that the legacy of the Holocaust is rendered void by political apathy, the rejection of refugees and cowardice. It believes that Germany should not only learn from its History but also take action.

The Center for Political Beauty engages in the most innovative forms of political performance art- an expanded approach to theatre: art must hurt provoke and rise in revolt. In one basic alliance of terms: aggressive humanism.
Some delirious projects on their site: https://politicalbeauty.com/

These humanitarians were in the media recently for showing on their site pictures of right-wing demonstrators in Chemnitz from some months ago and asking the public to snitch on them. Has been taken down since.

Germany's Last Coal Mine Shuts Down

Germany has ended coal mining. The people of the Ruhr see it as the bittersweet end to an era in their history. The pits were closed not so much for environmental as for economic reasons. Mining is no longer lucrative.

Germany introduces third gender option for official records

Until now, the only alternative option was to leave the gender entry blank

Germany is to introduce a third gender option for official records, allowing people to be registered as neither male nor female.

The country's cabinet has approved draft legislation that would mean people can be recorded as ”divers”, which translates roughly as “miscellaneous” or “other”.

The move comes after federal judges said the current system breached rights and anti-discrimination law.

In November the constitutional court ruled people must be allowed to be recorded as neither male nor female, ordering authorities either to introduce a third option or scrap gender entries altogether.

The ruling came on a case in which a plaintiff sought unsuccessfully to have their entry in the birth register changed from “female” to “inter/divers” or “divers”.

Serious question:
At this point why have "gender" on official forms at all?
A private matter and no business of the government.

Something for ed:
Giant South American birds cause chaos in northern Germany

Hundreds of errant flightless birds have confounded attempts to control their population and are gobbling up farmers' crops. North German agriculturalists want to start shooting the birds, but face legal hurdles.

Giant South American flightless birds are causing chaos in northern Germany after their population more than doubled, farming groups announced this week.

The autumn census of Europe's only wild rhea population, at the border of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein, found numbers had jumped from 205 birds in spring to 566, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The population explosion of greater rheas came despite population control efforts in the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve.

Almost 300 of the counted birds were juveniles born this year, presumably due to the uncharacteristically warm and dry summer.

Germany: Renewables overtake coal as main power source

Germans broke new ground in 2018 by receiving more electricity from "green" energy sources than from coal power plants, a new study said. But experts warn that Berlin could still miss its energy goals for 2030.

"Green" energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower accounted for 40.3 percent of German net electricity production last year, rising by 4.3 percent compared to 2017. Experts said coal-fired power plants supplied about 38 percent of electricity in 2018.

Germany has set ambitious energy targets for the upcoming decade, aiming to have renewable sources provide 65 percent of energy by 2030. The percentage had grown from 8.5 in 2003 to 16.2 in 2008 and 27.2 another five years later.

Didn’t they vow to get rid of their nuke power after Fukushima?

(Obviously forgetting that Germany is not in an earthquake/tsunami prone area)

Yep. Germany is phasing out all nuclear power. You can blame nuke-phobia I guess.

Actually the article says, if you'd bother to read it. ;)
Nuclear energy accounted for around 13.3 percent of electricity in 2018. However, the country is committed to shuttering its nuclear power plants by 2022.
So that 13.3 percent will have to be replaced with something in the next 4 years.
