Who are you a fan of?
Modern actors? Not many. I don't know the current crop too well (Ashton Kutcher and that type). Most of them I wouldn't know unless I saw their names under the picture.

Paul Newman is probably my alltime favorite actor though. Just too cool in the Hustler, and even though Color of Money stunk, he was great in that. Judge Roy Bean was another, and of course Butch Cassidy. I like Redford too, because of Butch Cassidy, but also Three Days of the Condor.

Matthau and Lemmon were great, too, as is Eastwood. Add people like Pacino, De Niro, Robert Duvall, etc.

I do like Johnny Depp, and James Remar is cool (Ajax in the Warriors). I'm a big fan of character actors, like M. Emmett Walsh, Jack Warden, and guys like that.
No Christopher Guest? :D
Actresses? Y'know, it's funny - there are some I like, but strangely, they don't come to mind at the moment.
No way; they have names?
Yes. Each actress has Two. "Left One" and "Right One"

I think you're wrong I shared a viewing of "Debbie Does Dallas" with a date in college, and she didn't think it was funny at all.
Maybe she was laughing on the inside?
I don't think so. She wanted to leave the showing early - next thing I knew she was rolling around with the guy next door.
I can't think of a none-offensive comment here, so uhm...fish.
Go ahead Grammy. (To be perfectly honest, my story is only half true - I remember seeing Debbie Does Dallas in college, but instead of a porn movie, I think I took the girl I mentioned to see Andy Warhol's Dracula. She did start going with the guy next door, but it was because she and I didn't work out anyway. It was a long time ago, and I exaggerated for self-deprecating/comedic effect.)
If you can't laugh, what good are you?

Sorry to jump in late; but I must disagree with some of the worst movie selections.
Doctor X wrote:The Indiana Jones Sequels--so, why are those crocks cartoon . . . and . . . this is a knee slapper! HITLER gives him an autograph!! What a gas. . . .[/b]
I don't think they are bad. Silly, yes, but not bad. Still a perfectly good way to waste an hour or two of my otherwise sorry excuse for a life.
The Princess Bride
Surely not. I re-watched it a little while ago and, while the film has aged a little, it still works for me. The book is still excellent too.
Silence of the Lambs--ZZZZzzzzzzZZzzzz . . . Oooo! I have a SCARY LIGHT installed in the cell that shines up my face!!!!
No, still a good movie. Scary movies aren't normally as scary when you watch them again, but that doesn't make it bad.

I see I must educate Iain on the ways of taste. . . .

Raiders Sequels may not seem like a waste of an hour or two, but consider some of the good movies one could see during that time.

Princess Bride after all of these years it still proves pathetic. At least it is consistent. . . .

Silence of the Lambs see the original Manhunter.

Godzilla movies. I thought they were bad when I was a kid, but now, they're completely unwatchable.

I do hope that you aren't implying that the original Manhunter (a.k.a Red Dragon) was a good movie. Maybe I am biased because I read the book, but I hated it because of how badly they screwed up the villian. Not to mention the Hannibal Lector from tha film can't hold a candle to ANthony Hopkins. The new version of Red Dragon was much better.

Of course, I LIKE Silence of the Lambs, but mostly because of Lector...

Cox proved a far more believable incontrol psycho than Hopkins.

Hopkins just hammed to a light shining up in his face like "Count Floyd."

Whether or not the film followed the book, I do not know. Jaws fortunately did not follow the book, for example.

Really. I found Cox to be a pretty dull Lector. A matter of opinion I guess.

I still HATE the way they screwed up the villian in Manhunter. That's still my biggest beef.

Oh really? Not that I'm defending it, but I think you can do much worse:

I think it's because it's a pretty recent and mainstream flick. Well, compared to the rest of the stuff on his site, anyway.

I just rented "Motel Hell". I can't remember the last time I saw it, but I seem to remember it being much more disturbing. Maybe because I was in my teens when I first saw it....

Well, actually it was disturbing, for a different reason. The sister (Ida) in the movie looked like a Green Bay Packer in pigtails - a detail I didn't remember.

I just looked her up, evidently, she was also "Balbricker" in the Porky's movies.

Porkey's is a great film!!

Really!

The scene in the principle's office.

Some distant cousin is in it. This family is GROSSLY fat so you should have no trouble figuring it out.

All of the stars of the film had such a career . . . okay, one of them did. . . .

Armageddon's only redeeming feature

Post by Bottle or the Gun »

Armageddon has only one redeeming part (well, two if you count Steve Buscemi, he can be in anything you can't hate him, check out the pig-boy episode of Tales of the Darkside for an example) and that is the line the cosmonaut utters: "No, I've never seen Star Wars".

Use it yourself when someone asks you something and make sure you do it with an accent. Hilarity ensues.

"Did you put those tech contracts out to bid for Pennsylvania state government under our MBE?"
"No, I've never seen Star Wars."

Bwah ha ha....uh, you had to be there....

As you wish!

My daughter loves the Princess Bride - and I have to say I like it too. It drags in some places, but the actors are great - I've been a big fan of Wally Shawn since I saw My Dinner with Andre over 20 years ago.
