I lost interest in it. 60 minutes per episode is too much of my time. I wish someone would edit the dead time out of the episode and compress them down to about 15 minutes. :(

Still another imagines a post-peak-oil future, wherein people generate energy and currency by pedaling on stationary bikes, and the only escape from the drudgery is reality-show fame.
That is a very narrow, very naive interpretation. Simplistic. Dullard. It was about the corporate-capitalistic treadmill.

It's back.

The first one was decent.

This isn't really a big spoiler but just a general comment about the first episode.
I haven't seen the others yet.
Spoiler:
Black Mirror never does unambiguously happy endings, usually quite the opposite, but I guess this one wasn't quite as awful as it could be.

I find unrelieved negativity to be a cheap ploy. Like Love Story again and again with nothing underneath it.

I watched a couple of episodes and didn't appreciate the manipulation as a series theme.

I wouldn't say it was unrelieved, there are a few episodes and endings that change that tone. But the balance may still not be to your taste.

Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

My own personal take on season 4:

So, of course there are 6 episodes in season 4 and each one is completely independent of the others.

If I were to roughly divide them into 2 categories, I'd say there are 3 I would recommend and 3 I wouldn't.

My favorite was the last one, episode 6, "Black Museum". It sort of reminds me of the Christmas Special, another personal favorite.

2nd, was episode 2, "Arkangel" (that's the correct spelling apparently)

3rd, episode 1, "USS Callister".

Those are the "watchers".

The ones you could take a pass on are:

4: "Metalhead" (episode 5 I think)
5: "Hang the DJ" (4(?))
6: "Crocodile" (3)

The only one I really hated was Crocodile.

I figured Black Mirror would have been cancelled by now, so I decided to watch a couple of episodes. If you have Netflix, you might want to catch Bandersnatch. It's an amusing interactive episode where you can chose the path that the story takes. I recommend making all the obviously wrong decisions. I had fun with the kids while watching this one. We also watched "USS Callister" and really enjoyed that one.

So I was starting to think that maybe the show had improved and watched "Arkangel" this morning. Nope. Again, good story telling, but way too long, slow, and depressing. One the plus side, I was imagining dozens of much more horrible endings for that episode, the actual ending wasn't completely horrible.
Spoiler:
Who knows. Maybe that trucker turned out to be a nice guy, and maybe she married him and eventually reconciled with her crazy mother?
Coincidentally, that's exactly the path that one of aunt's life took, so not every story that includes a young girl hitch-hiking with a trucker ends badly.

FYI, I met that trucker when I was 12 and he thought I was too soft. He taught me manly stuff like chopping wood and driving a truck. Mom was livid, which made him seem even more awesome to 12 year old me. Had it not been for Uncle Brian, I might not have grown to be the manly man I am today. :D
I think I'll follow Anax's recommendation and watch Black Museum today. Thanks, Anax. :)

I tried watching Bandersnatch, but eventually I got annoyed.

I'm not sure if any of the answers are "right". It's Black Mirror, so they all seem to lead to bad outcomes.

Which cereal did you choose? Is either one better than the other? I chose the Sugar Puffs but I have no idea if that makes any difference.
Spoiler:
Throwing your meds in the toilet seems to lead to bad outcomes. I realized that eventually but I was too depressed to go back to the beginning and try over. I'm pretty sure that what happens after that rapidly devolves into a paranoid delusion.

Supposedly all choices make a difference.

I liked the outcome of explaining what Netflix is to someone from 1984.
