House of Cards season 5 is going to be released on May 30th, 2017. As is the case with Netflix’s original series, all episodes of the new season will be released at once.

Have to really recommend the Japanese Australian Original Rake. That Girl--"You Cock Suckers!"--from Muriel's Wedding as the Australian Cunt Coulter.

Better Call Saul has some really great cinematography, if that's the right term.

The acting and plot are also very good. But it's clear that a lot of effort goes into framing the shots.

There was a lot of that of course too in Breaking Bad. I really think that Saul has turned out to be just as good as its predecessor, not a shoddy sequel by any means.

P.S. Did I mention the Australian series Rake?
P.P.S. Can you believe NE was down by 25 with 8:31 left in the third quarter?

Bojack horseman is ok. I like the funky theme music. The show itself is mildly amusing.

Been watching the new MST3K and Man in the High Castle, mostly.

New MST3K is great. Worthy successor to the original. Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt are great Mads, Jonah Ray is a good foil for them and the movies are as bad as ever.

Man in the High Castle is really good too. Interesting bit of alternate history with a bit of dimension hopping thrown in. Set in a '60s where WWII not only saw the allies losing, but Germany and Japan rolling over the allies and splitting the world between them. The US is split up with Japan getting the west and Germany the East, with a lawless "Neutral Zone" between them. And there are these films that show another reality, where Germany and Japan lost, the US getting the Atom Bomb first, etc. And these films interest both the respective governments and the Resistance for various reasons. Plus lots of intrigue between the Germans and Japanese. Interesting show.

Also recently discovered "The Good Place". Its about a woman who dies and goes to heaven (though it isn't the Christian heaven, it is just called "The Good Place", she is told in the first episode that Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, et al got about 5% right each), however there has been some kind of mistake and she was supposed to go to "The Bad Place". Hijinks ensue. Usually caused because whenever she she does bad things, it makes bad things happen. Funnier than the premise sounds.

I wanted to watch MST3K but they didn't make it available on Netflix Japan. What they make available varies by country.

My bet its some licensing issue somewhere along the line. I hope you get to see it sometime. This season has two "kaiju" films, and neither are Japanese (one Danish, one Korean) you might find them hilarious in their own right

Now watching "Fortitude". Set in Svalbard. Think Bruce is in it. Detailed plot, weird stuff, mystery, opening had a guy being eaten by a polar bear, so you know it's good. Stanley Tucci is in it. And this guy.

Sadly it jumped the shark last season and simply got worse this season. Could go into detail but suffice it to say that once you declare that every single character is a liar then one has built the machine that deus is in. Any plot twist can be "justified".

The Brits ended their version in 3 seasons and did so in a most satisfying manner. Wish we could do the same.

Interesting story. Well done, like an art directors movie, visually appealing that is.

If you can, don't read anything about it and try to stick thru episode one. WARNING: Gayness

It has Jim Broadbent in it and that makes it a good thing.

Anyone watching "The Good Place"? Probably my favorite show on network TV right now. The basic premise is this, this kind of humorously rude selfish sarcastic etc woman dies and (due to a mix up with another woman with the same name who is a philanthropist doctor) is admitted into "The Good Place", basically heaven. Hilarity ensues (no actually it does). I can't really say much more than that without giving away spoilers like...
Spoiler:
The end of the first season when she discovers there was no mistake at all and she is in a special part of "The Bad Place" where she and a few other people were selected to be tortured for eternity by getting on each others nerves and having to keep up the pretense that they belonged in "The Good Place"
I was unsure how they would keep the premise going for a second season, but the second season is even better. The latest episode produced my new favorite motivational saying. The characters were trying to figure out how to solve a problem and one of them, a character named Jason who is profoundly stupid, suggested Molotovs saying "Whenever I have a problem, I throw a molotov at it. And then I have a different problem"

It's a great show. I really recommend it.

Also been keeping up with Discovery and Orville.

Except no Orville in 2018.

Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. Who here has watched the first two seasons of The Expanse? Apparently production is done on season 3 and it will air sometime this year, but they haven't said when yet.

I have been watching Discovery too, but personally I like The Expanse better. This week's Discovery finally had a semi-interesting plot development:
Spoiler:
Lorca has actually been his Terran counterpart the whole time! I always thought there was something not quite right about that guy. Also must mean that the Federation Lorca is out there somewhere.

Israeli, dubbed but not badly done. Unattractive people, which I like. Not everyone is a model and these people look their parts.

I also generally don't care for shows where everyone looks (and acts) like a Ken or Barbie doll. I'd rather have someone who can act than someone chosen only for their physical attractiveness.

There are only 10 episodes, but I found Electric Dreams, an anthology of adaptions of Philip K Dick short stories to be pretty entertaining. As to be expected with any anthology series, the individual stories can vary greatly in quality, but I liked the vast majority of them. My favorite was "The Hoodmaker" about a future where a totalitarian government uses telepaths as to find political opponents, and someone invents a hood that will keep them out. Interesting stuff. The worst was "Crazy Diamond" which had Steve Buscemi in it and should, therefore, have been good. But if anyone knows what the hell was going on in that episode, please tell me, because I couldn't figure it out.

Any way, a good way to kill 10 hours or so.

First: This is a good damn show
I agree about Ken and Barbie.

The problem with dubbed movies and shows is that the folks doing the dubbing generally are not actors so it sounds flat and contrived. For this show it seems like they got the original actors to do their own dubbing. Maybe that's why the old [dubbed] Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns were so good.
