"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

Welll Caberet was sorta gay, gayer than the Isherwood story. In fact, Brideshead (which I started rewatching) was one hell of a lot gayer than the Waugh book.

Abdul, just because you have lithe young men hip thrusting you do not necessarily have gayness. Usually. Well, sometimes.

Just a side note: Isherwood definitely toned it down the first time, but years later he wrote another book Christopher and his Kind that made the necessary corrections.

Brideshead is a different matter. There you have a gay character (not the protagonist) that the movie played up more.

Waugh novels after his conversion are the only Roman Catholic apologetics worth reading as literature.

Certainly better than the more heavy handed stuff by Graham Greene (who is otherwise arguably a better author than Waugh).

Then there's some of Anthony Burgess' earlier stuff, but I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be parody.

ed, you just need to accept your urges to bond more tightly with your fellow men.
