I think we have a winner, mathematically--even if Doc X gambles and loses, and Evolver gambles and wins, the rankings don't change.

Am I mistaken?

A commentary on my "system", such as it is... this time around there was very little opportunity to make strategic choices, especially in the late game. Again and again, the choice with the highest expected point value by probability had no alternative where I could consider a less likely pick with higher potential point value in an attempt to gain ground on the field at large. Any alternatives were inferior even with the pick's success as a given.

It was just not the year for me this year either. Many of the picks I made which seemed like good picks at the time just didn't pan out while those who followed the consensus pick were generally rewarded. I think it demonstrates that it really doesn't pay over the long run to try to go your own way too much and pick teams that others aren't picking that week.

Let's see what the most popular pick for each week was, and what happened:
Week 1: Squeelers
Week 2: Ain'ts
Week 3: Cravens
Week 4: Swills
Week 5: Lambs
Week 6: Whiners
Week 7: Da Bears
Week 8: Queefs
Week 9: ViQueens
Week 10: Seamen (this was the week to pick the 69ers, tied for 2nd most popular choice)
Week 11: Steers 'n Queers
Week 12: Fudge Packers
Week 13: 69rs
Week 14: Faints, Queefs (tied) ,
Week 15: Da Bears
Week 16: 4 teams had 2 picks, no consensus choice
Week 17: Seamen

Sorta shows there was a "wisdom of the crowd" thing as you would have done pretty well just picking the most popular choice each week as there were only a few weeks where that didn't work.

And yet, making the most popular pick each week is no way to win either.

I didn't get to watch cuz I'm at work but it looks like it was a fun game to watch. I'm glad the Chiefs finally won. I think anyone who isn't a hardcore Niners fan was probably rooting for the Chiefs to win this one. I was anyway.

Congrats to our winner and thanks for another fun year!

Another new rule suggestion, proposed for next year.

Time to Cry (obviously a different name can be picked, that's just a suggestion)
If two or more players are eligible for the Dipshit Bonus coming into the Super Bowl, they may forego both that bonus and the opportunity to Radrick gamble, and instead wager any number of points up to their current total. Chose poorly and lose the declared number of points. Choose wisely and gain that number of points.

Hmmmm . . . my problem with that is Perpetual Losers like, well, you [Stop that! – Ed.], well myself other years could just bet everything to fuck with all of the leaders. Now the ones who picked wisely/lucky all during the season face the fear of having to risk all of that because someone with a 20+ deficit decides to "bet it all."

However, I do see the desire to keep things competitive within reason "'til the end."

### Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV

That is my interest. If a variation will accomplish the same, maybe some other idea. My envisioning of this method was sort of the idea that managing to collect both Super Bowl teams gets you into "Final Jeopardy" as it were. But I think you could be right that a 50/50 chance puts too much pressure on the leader, who should have an advantage.

### Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV

I'm not endorsing the idea, but if we did go that route, I think there should be a limit to how much you can bet (25 maybe). If there were a way to make a sealed bid, it might add a bit more drama. Might be doable with PMs. Unlike other weeks, everyone's pick for the Super Bowl could be a secret pick. We'd have to draft someone to be the "designated custodian of the Super Bowl picks" or whatever, particularly if Doctor X is in the lead or in the running to win. Like, it could be whoever is in last place or something like that, so that knowing other's picks doesn't really help them.
