I hope to go paragliding in Interlaken someday.

If you go to Switzerland as a tourist you can get a relatively inexpensive Travel Pass for rail, ship, buses, even streetcars and access to museums.
There is something similar in Belgium, less encompassing but really cheap.

On the main railway lines there is a train ~ every 15 minutes, you can get out anywhere for some sightseeing or a meal and complete your journey later.

I have used the Pass and it was great fun to just hop into some train headed roughly in the right direction. (I remember some crazy Karen asking me where I was going and my sincere "I don't know" completely shutting her down.
