Meh, Rush was just a warm fuzzball. I'm not a hater. One of his most notable themes was Caller Abortion. I'll leave it to the reader to google that.

He had a fucking black belt in Troll.

He was an Oxycontin moron.

His peeps loved him to be sure, but they're all fucking morons of one stripe or another too.

I don't judge that. I don't judge you for judging it though. It just means it hasn't happened to you.

Yet.

Perhaps. One the other hand, if I ever have the kind of chronic pain requiring that shit, I'll off myself.

The way oxycodone was promoted, pushed, marketed is a real crime.

I do not share the glee over his death, but I did not agree with much of anything he said. I think I, at most, listened to a total of an hour of him in all of his years. In a way, I found his addiction deliciously ironic, simply because it could, literally, even with "scare quotes," in the rain, happen to everyone.

Funnily enough, the one thing I remember him saying occurred during a long drive where the alternatives were "JESUS" and Wings music. Someone out of central casting for toothless sister-raper – not . . . that there is anything . . . no . . . wait! – called to ask him about various conspiracies. These include such now laughably silly as highway signs having secret codes to direct the UN tanks when they take over!

He admitted to the caller that his father had believed such, but he never could since he had to always wonder why "they" never actually took over. After decades of conspiracy theory – such as taking the time to mark highway signs! – "they" still could not take over.

The caller protested the usual "IS GOiNT GTO HAPPENS ANY MINUTES" and Rush moved on.

A surprising moment of critical thinking.

Shame that he did not apply it to other areas.

Nor did nor do his critics.

In the rain.

John Magufuli, 61, President of Tanzania. He denied that there was any Covid in Tanzania because the people had prayed it away. He was also an anti-vaxer and declared that Covid testing was worthless.

From Wikipedia:
A Kenyan newspaper reported on 10 March 2021 that "an African leader" was being treated for COVID-19 at a hospital in Nairobi, leading to speculation that it could be President Magufuli, who had not been seen in public since February. On the night of 17 March 2021, Tanzania's vice president, Samia Suluhu, announced Magufuli's death and attributed it to heart-related problems.
Of course he didn't die of Covid. Only the faithless die of Covid.

Ed Armbrister, 72. Cheating bastard who interfered with Carlton Fisk in Game 3 of the 1975 World Series. Umpire Larry "Blind-as-a-Bat" Barnett failed to make the proper call* thereby costing the Boston Red Sox the World Series, which also meant that my sainted mother went to her grave in 2003 never to see the end of The Curse of the Bambino.

* There is no evidence that Barnett was paid by the Mafia, Richard Nixon, George Steinbrenner and the North Koreans to fix the series, despite claims to the contrary by Doctor X.
